NFC East Game Previews – Arizona Cardinals vs Philadelphia Eagles
The Arizona Cardinals will look to win back-to-back games for the first time this season when they square-off against the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field.
The Arizona Cardinals will look to win back-to-back games for the first time this season when they square-off against the Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field.
Do not look now, but the Philadelphia Eagles are heating up. For all of those critics that bashed the “dream team”, we could very well be witnessing the same thing that NBA fans saw with the Miami Heat team that went to the NBA Finals a year ago.
Here comes Virginia Tech. After a humbling 23-3 loss to Clemson on October 1, their only defeat of the year, the Hokies have rattled off consecutive convincing wins over Miami and Wake Forest.
The beleaguered Philadelphia Eagles will look to snap a rare four-game losing streak this Sunday afternoon when they square-off against the Washington Redskins at FedEx Field in a classic NFC East rivalry. Game time is slated for 1 p.m. (ET) and it will be broadcast nationally on FOX.
The Philadelphia Eagles will try and snap a rare three-game losing streak when they travel to Ralph Wilson Stadium to take on the upstart Buffalo Bills this Sunday afternoon. The kick-off is slated for 1 p.m. and the game will be broadcast regionally on FOX.
The San Francisco 49ers will look to make an early statement in the NFC West with a victory over the struggling Philadelphia Eagles this Sunday at Lincoln Financial Field. The kick-off in this one is slated for 1 p.m. (ET) and the game will be broadcast regionally on FOX.
Entering Week 5, most bettors would’ve expected Wake Forest to be 1-3 and Boston College to be 2-1, not the other way around. Will the topsy-turvy ACC season continue or will a home game for Boston College bring balance back to the universe?
NFL news: Lockout ends, business to resume this week
The NFL lockout is over. Fans, players, bettors, fantasy football nuts….join hands.
Let’s celebrate!
After working through the night, the NFL owners and players have reportedly agreed to a new, 10-year collective bargaining agreement. Players are expected to officially ratify the agreement through a vote later today.
The union’s executive committee will advise the league’s 1,900 players to approve the deal. At this stage it’s a mere formality.
Under the new deal, training camps will open with a staggered schedule. Ten teams will start Wednesday, 10 Thursday, 10 Friday and two on Sunday.
Teams can sign 2011 draft picks and undrafted free agents Tuesday. They can also start negotiating with veteran free agents, who can be signed as of Friday.
The salary cap for 2011 will be set at $120 million. The CBA also includes a new rookie payment scale aimed at regulating the cost of signing unproven players; unrestricted free agency after four years for most players; and revenues split to 53 per cent for the owners and 47 per cent for the players.
Players take a three-per-cent cut. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

NFL news: Cardinals eyeing Kolb for Rodgers-Cromartie swap?
The Arizona Cardinals are still hoping to acquire quarterback Kevin Kolb from the Philadelphia Eagles once NFL free agency (plus trading) kicks in, which could be July 28.
Reportedly, the Cards want to offer cornerback Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie straight-up for Kolb.
But will that be enough? The Eagles are thought to want a high draft pick as well.
Also, DRC has fallen out of favor in Arizona.
As Phoenix radio host mike Jurecki put it, “[2011 first-round pick] Patrick Peterson is a better football player than DRC right now.
He’s not afraid to hit.” [soliloquy id=”82219″]

NFL news: LeSean McCoy battles Giants D-line on Twitter
NFLers continue to slog each other via Twitter.
The latest offender is Philadelphia Eagles running back LeSean McCoy, who called New York Giants defensive end Osi Umenyiora “Overrated n soft 3rd best d-line on his team honestly.”
Umenyiora responded by comparing McCoy to Lady Gaga and a Chihuahua.
In addition to defending Umenyiora’s skills, Giants defensive end Justin Tuck spoke out against the Twitter wars this week.
“I honestly think social media has made people cowards,” Tuck said. “Where I’m from, if you had a problem with somebody you said it to their face and that was it.
I think now people are hiding behind computers and smartphones to get out something they got on their chest.”
Heitmann Out Again
San Francisco 49ers center Eric Heitmann is expected to miss his second consecutive season after undergoing neck surgery.
Terrell Owens owes child support
Terrell Owens reportedly has refused to pay the full $5,000 in monthly child support owed to the mother of his child.
Melanie Paige Smith filed court papers in Atlanta alleging that the star NFL wide receiver owes her partial child support for June 2011. [soliloquy id=”82219″]
