The Clippers needed everything they had to advance. Not only did it take seven games but they beat the defending champs, beating them twice in elimination games, including one on the road.
[dfads params=’groups=63742&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]
This is a talented group but you have to wonder how much they have left in the tank because there is next to no depth on this team. Star power for sure they really can’t play through an off night from any of their key players.
Doc may have to dip into the reserves more than he wants to early in the series.
Los Angeles doesn’t have a chance if Paul isn’t healthy.
[dfads params=’groups=63727&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]
He tweaked a hamstring against the Spurs and needs to be more than available for the Clippers to win.
Griffin has had a nice run of 20/10 performances and will also be key, in fact they need him to dominate as the Rockets don’t really have a good counter for him. They have the talent now they just have to play.
If Sunday is a leading indicator than it is a good thing to win your series quickly and then rest.
Houston will have that advantage and will need it to beat a Clippers team that is probably more talented.
Houston has lots of things that it does well but mostly they are a scrappy team with a single superlative player. It is imperative that they jump on L.A. early in the opener or else the rest advantage may have been lost.
This game could have a nice pace as the Rockets have been cranking it up as of late.
There is no doubt that Harden has to play great for the Rockets but I think the key to the series is Dwight Howard. He and DeAndre Jordan are going to have some battles and he has to be both a scoring and rebounding threat.
If he is than the other Rockets can fill in around those two. If not the Rockets are going to crash.
[dfads params=’groups=63741&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]
Relying on the likes of Josh Smith is too dangerous.
This should be a tight series but I think the Clippers can steal game one.
NBA Score Prediction:Los Angeles 103 – Houston 100
Even if they can’t that -6 for Houston is too generous. Take the underdog tonight.

A win for Houston would put the Spurs in a very tough position as far as the division title is concerned. A San Antonio win would open the door wide open for all 3 teams with just a couple games remaining on the schedule.
The Rockets are doing everything they possibly can to hold on to the 2 seed in the NBA Western Conference. 1 game up on Memphis, Houston will look to give themselves some breathing room with a win over the surging Spurs on Wednesday. Houston has won 3 straight games, and comes in following a 115-112 thrilling win over the Oklahoma City Thunder.
[dfads params=’groups=63742&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]
MVP candidate James Harden is doing just about everything possible to not only solidify is own campaign, but also to give his team the 2 seed in the West. Harden leads the NBA with 27.7 points a game this season. In the past 8 contests with the Spurs, Harden is averaging 26.8 points a game.
C Dwight Howard finally got himself back on track last game against OKC as he scored 22 points and put together possibly his best performance since returning from his injury. Howard also grabbed 8 rebounds in the win.
Houston has won 6 of the last 7 meetings with San Antonio, but lost the most previous one back on Dec. 26th 110-106.
Winners of 8 in a row, it’s a fair statement to say that nobody wants to face the San Antonio Spurs right now, especially in a playoff series.
[dfads params=’groups=63727&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]
The Spurs have also won 18 of their last 21 contests. During this 8 game winning streak the Spurs have put together, they are beating opponents by an average of 20.9 points a game. They are dismantling the likes of Denver, Oklahoma City, Golden State, and other playoff candidates.
The Spurs are not just scoring a lot, but they’re also dominating opponents with their lockdown defense. San Antonio is only allowing 87.6 points a game during this current streak, and opponents are shooting just 41.7 percent from the field.
With 4 games left in the regular season, two of them will be against Houston. The Spurs will more than likely have to win both contests against the Rockets in order to have any chance at the 2 seed and Southwest division title. That doesn’t seem so far fetched as they’ve been blowing past everybody in their way.
[dfads params=’groups=63741&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]
At home this season, San Antonio is 31-8 S.U. and 20-17-2 ATS.
6.5 is a lot to lay here, even with the hot Spurs. Houston can essentially eliminate the Spurs from the division with a win here tonight.
While this game will come down to the wire, grabbing the points now would be smart, as this line will probably move as game time gets closer.
