Headline: The Disappointment Bowl – Eagles face Saints in Week 9
There is no shortage of NFL fans that had Monday, November 5 circled on their calendar as one of the most anticipated games of the season for both the Philadelphia Eagles and the New Orleans Saints. It’s too bad that Monday night’s showdown will be a battle for respectability rather than one of potential playoff teams.
The Detroit Lions are hanging by a thread right now. They are already 3 games behind the Bears in the division and have lost their only two division games to this point as well.
Carolina nearly pulled off a great victory against Chicago last weekend,,,choking it away in the second half. Still it was another step in the right direction. The Panthers have lost 5 in a row but the last 4 have been by a combined 12 points.
There are just three races left in the Chase for this season’s Sprint Cup title so it is do or die for the handful of drivers still in contention. This Sunday afternoon the series heads back to Texas Motor Speedway for the running of the AAA Texas 500. Things get underway at 2 p.m. (ET) and the race will be broadcast nationally ESPN.
The No. 13 Clemson Tigers are set to travel to Durham, N.C. to take on the Duke Blue Devils in a nationally televised contest this weekend. Clemson is looking to win their fifth straight game in a row, while Duke is looking to bounce back from a disappointing showing against the No. 12 Florida State Seminoles.
The Oregon State Beavers’ magical run came to an end last weekend, but despite a three-point loss to the Washington Huskies, they remain the No. 11 team in the country this week. The team from Corvallis plays host Saturday to the Arizona State Sun Devils, who are also coming off of a tightly contested loss.
The UCLA Bruins may be unranked in the BCS, but they are earning national attention in the media as the 25th-best team in the AP Poll. The Arizona Wildcats travel down to Los Angeles as the No. 22 team in the country as they look to Spoil the Bruins’ homecoming. Both teams have been good this year, and both teams are looking for a statement win this weekend.
The Aggies have been better than expected in their SEC debut season. They have two losses to Florida and LSU by a combined 8 points proving that they are not being outclassed by too much.
I am still a little bit shocked by the result of last week’s OU vs Notre Dame game. It marked the second loss at home for the Sooners this season and it could easily be the tipping point for a program that could be sliding.
Too bad we are not talking hoops where this matchup would have been greatly anticipated. The Owls are back in the Big East but with a team a notch below the one that competed hard in the MAC the last couple of seasons.
The expectations might have been a little unrealistic coming into this season for BIg Blue. Right now they have three losses to Alabama, Notre Dame and last week @ Nebraska and there is no shame in any of those.
After a mediocre start the Packers (5-3) are looking like the Packers on the last few seasons and they have won 3 straight, but still trail the 6-1 Bears in the NFC North.
Nobody is really talking about the Bears (6-1) as being legit Super Bowl contenders, but their defense has been solid and they have won 5 straight. The Titans (3-5) are coming off a tough loss and if they lose this game they may be out of the playoff picture already.
The Oklahoma State Cowboys will try to do what no one else has been able to do so far this year, take down the Kansas State Wildcats.
If you have been smart you have been on the Rebels bandwagon all season long as they are sporting a 7-1 ATS record coming into this weekend. No major upsets included just playing it a little closer than expected.
The Ravens (5-2) are coming off their worst loss in 5 years, but they have had the Browns’ number in the last few seasons. However, the Browns (2-6) have won 2 of their last 2 games and in their last couple of games they have really stepped up on defense.
