This is the first ACC game for Florida State and while they have played a couple of cream puffs before conference play they have scored at least 55 points in each of their first 2 games and they have only given up 3 points.
Virginia Tech is 2-0 after 2 home wins and while their D has played well their offense has only been decent. They have a good chance to get on track facing a Pitt team that is off to a terrible 0-2 start and has the nation’s 94th ranked defense.
The buckeyes have not faced the Golden Bears in 40 years and they look to get to 3-0 for the 2nd time in the last 3 seasons. Ohio State has a great rushing attack, but their starting RB will miss this game with a minor knee injury.
Nebraska was upset losing at UCLA last week and while Arkansas State plays in the Sun Belt conference the Huskers cannot take them for granted since they have a solid offense and they are coming off a win.
When WSU (1-1) brought in Mike Leach many thought the Cougars would have a high powered offense like Leach’s Texas Tech had, but after only 2 games the Cougars only rank 107th in the nation in points per game.
About a month back it looked as if the Yankees had the AL East wrapped up, but they have not been playing great while the red-hot Orioles and Rays have played well. New York is now tied atop the division with Baltimore and Tampa Bay is only 2 games back.
This is the first Big East game for Rutgers and South Florida, who are each off to 2-0 starts. Neither team is ranked, but that may change after this Thursday night game. South Florida has looked good on the offensive side of the ball and Rutgers has played solid defense and they rank 4th in the nation in opponents’ points allowed.
The Dodgers are only 4-6 in their last 10 games and they now trail the San Francisco Giants by 5 games in the NL West. After getting back in the division race the D-Backs are now 10 games back of the Giants.
The Jets have not had a good off-season and their preseason was not much better averaging only 8.5 points in their preseason games. The Bills had a great start to last season before flaming out in the 2nd half and they have high hopes coming into this season.
In the opening game for this season the Jags and Vikings may be without their biggest stars, as Adrian Peterson and Maurice Jones-Drew are questionable.
The Falcons have been solid in the last couple of years, but have flamed out in the playoffs. Matt Ryan is one of the better QB’s in the league and he may be tested in this game facing a solid Kansas City secondary.
The Saints have Drew Brees under center and a great offense, but can they get over the distractions of Bountygate as well as the recent hurricane in the Big Easy?
Denard Robinson really struggled last week, as Michigan was blown out by Alabama and they fell 11 spots in the polls because of it. They have a good chance to regroup facing an Air Force team that was 0-2 facing ranked teams last season.
Both Michigan State and Central Michigan won their season openers and the Spartans got off to a good start beating a ranked team. Even though the Chippewas are 3-9 in each of their last 2 seasons the Spartans cannot over look them.
Florida won their season opener and as the game was an audition for the starting QB position Jeff Driskel will get the start under center.
Notre Dame had a solid start to the season easily winning by 50 points, but they may have a tough time from a Purdue team from the Big 10, who easily won their season opener. Both teams are getting QB’s back from suspensions for this big game.
