Arkansas State vs. Nebraska Cornhuskers Preview

Also, the Red Wolves have played a tough schedule and scored 34 points against Oregon in a loss and they put up 33 in a win over Memphis past week. NCAAF lines have Nebraska as big 24.5-point favorites with a total of 67.

In their last games Arkansas State beat Memphis 33-28 while Nebraska lost to UCLA 36-30.

On the season Arkansas State is 1-1 ATS with an O/U record of 1-1 and Nebraska is also 1-1 ATS with an O/U record of 2-0.

QB Taylor Martinez had a great opening game, but in the UCLA loss he only passed for 179 yards with 0 TD and 1 INT and he was sacked in the end zone for a safety. The Huskers did rush for 260 yards in the game, but their rushing attack also gave up a fumble.

Star RB Rex Burkhead missed the UCLA game with a knee injury and he is listed as day-to-day and he may miss this non-conference game. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Arkansas State has the offense, but they have struggled on the defensive side of the ball. They only have the nation’s 117th ranked defense and for them pull off the major away upset they will have to light up the scoreboard.

The Red Wolves rank 26th in the nation in passing yards per game and 15th in rushing yards per game. They have solid receivers and QB Ryan Aplin has already passed for over 600 yards with 4 TD and 1 INT. He is also the 2nd leading rusher for the team. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

David Oku rushed for 130 yards in the win over Memphis and averaged over 5 yards per carry in the game.

Nebraska’s defense played terrible in the loss to UCLA giving up over 300 yards on the ground and in the air. A starting player on D quit this week and there may be several personal changes for the Huskers on that side of the ball.

In some betting trends for this non-conference match up Arkansas State is 4-1 ATS in their last 5 road games, 11-4 ATS in their last 15 games overall, and they have an Over record of 4-1 in their last 5 games.

Nebraska is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 non-conference games, 3-1-1 ATS in their last 5 games following a ATS loss, and they have an Under record of 4-1 in Cornhuskers last 5 games following a ATS loss.

Jason’s Pick: Arkansas State will not pull off the big upset, but their offense will continue to play well and they will cover the road spread.
