The Irish escaped last week narrowly beating Pittsburgh in overtime. Usually when a team goes undefeated they have a close call like last week but it could also be that this team really is not as good at the others with zeroes in that right column.
Just don’t blow it Georgia Bulldogs. This is the last hurdle between a return trip to the SEC title game. Georgia got off to a slow start against Mississippi last week so they will want to roar out of the gate this week and not let the Tigers into the game.
For the second week in a row the Mississippi State Bulldogs showed they are not quite among the elite in the SEC. This time at home to Texas A&M they were stormed out of the gate by the Aggies.
I doubt we are going to see a headline “Shocker from the Swamp” but this Lafayette team in respectable. They are in the middle of the Sun Belt and last week handed Louisiana-Monroe their first conference loss – yet that Monroe team that was making the SEC look silly.
The Cyclones were not totally embarrassed against Oklahoma last week. The game wasn’t really close but they kept it reasonbly respectable. They are still looking for their 6th win but it is going to be hard to get it this weekend.
If you have been smart you have been on the Rebels bandwagon all season long as they are sporting a 7-1 ATS record coming into this weekend. No major upsets included just playing it a little closer than expected.
The Tigers finally got their first SEC victory last week. I thought they would be able to compete better in the SEC this inaugural year but it has not turned out that way. Lucky for them Kentucky came to town…and everybody beats the Wildcats.
It is hard to tell how good this Texas A&M team is as both times they took on heavyweights it was clear that this team still has some training to do.
The Buckeyes snatched victory from the jaws of defeat last week against Purdue. With QB Braxton Miller out of the game with a head injury they were able to get the touchdown they needed to force overtime and then win it with another TD.
Don’t look now but Kansas State is ranked third in the nation, with a chance to improve their positioning big time if they can win on the road on Saturday.
Things have been pretty bad for the Colorado football program…and they are about to get much worse. This is the first game of a brutal stretch of game.
UNLV is one of the least successful programs in the FBS. Their talent level is low because it seems that nobody wants to play there initially, though they do gather some transfers that have washed out of other big time schools.
Another year, another disappointing streak of games for USF. The Bulls are travelling to Louisville trying to halt a 4 game losing streak by beating the best team in the conference.
It has to be sack watch in Chestnut Hill these days, as in how many days until they sack the coach. Everyone knew this wasn’t going to be a vintage season for the Eagles but 1-5 including a loss to Army is below even those low preseason expectations.
This is not your father’s BYU Cougars team. Normally flush with one of the best passing attacks in the nation this year BYU is a stalwart defensive squad with a pair of the game’s best linebackers.
Stop the presses, Fresno State is 6-0 ATS this season. Clearly they are doing much better than expected, including playing Oregon closer than anybody else (sort of…they backed into a cover after being down 35-6).
