The final score made it look closer than it really was for West Virginia at Texas last week. It was their first road contest as a member of the BIg 12 and they passed, continuing their ascent up the national rankings.
When Syracuse was 0-2 with a close loss to Northwestern and a relatively impressive performance against USC some were thinking the program is finally getting back to some solid footing before it bolts to the ACC.
Its funny, Alabama continues to win easily but fails to impress…kind of. They are just 2-3 ATS this season and as the wins mount they seem to be not a very interesting part of the BCS conversation…perhaps it is because they are too obvious.

It is hard to gauge just how good this Utah State team really is. The reality is that they are just a few points away from a perfect record that could have included a victory over Wisconsin at Madison.
The Wildcats are one of two teams in the Big Ten still with a perfect record. Only one of those wins was in conference but they have an excellent chance to keep the momentum going against a Penn State team in the middle of a roller coaster of a season.
Texas is back? A 3-0 start is good but not much was learned from playing the likes of Wyoming, New Mexico and Ole Miss.
The Red Raiders are looking to get back into the race in the revamped Big 12 this year. It is going to be tough because even though two better programs left two new better programs took their slots.
The Horned Frogs have been stealthily sneaking up the rankings with their perfect start to the season.
This is their first year in the BIg 12 and this is their last nonconference game for the year.
The Gamecocks have been cruising since being pushed harder than expected in the opener against Vandy.
I mean no disrespect to the Towson Tigers but they lost by 20 points to Kent State so I can hardly imagine what LSU might do to them Saturday.
