The Bulldogs have not been as dominant in the WCC as they have been in the past this season – heck they have three losses.
The No. 9 Auburn Tigers have been one of the biggest surprises in college football this season, and will put it all on the line for a shot at the Southeastern Conference championship game when they host Georgia on Saturday.
Getting a win against his former team surely tasted sweet, but Gus Malzahn’s Auburn Tigers will face a much stiffer test this weekend when they open their SEC schedule against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
That’s not a typo, its Bulldogs vs Tigers again from Clemson, this time just with slightly less hype than last week’s monster tilt. There are some very good games in the first week of the season as we have been offered some fun neutral site contests and even some rare conference games…but this one is the prize of the week pitting two Top 10 teams in an on-campus BCS Championship elimination match before we even get to Labour Day (neutral sites are cool but they often lack emotion).
ESPN’s show College Game Day will visit “Death Valley” for the second time as the defending SEC East champion No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs kick off their 2013 season by renewing an old rivalry with a No. 8 ranked Tigers team that is looking to build on last year’s season success.
Just don’t blow it Georgia Bulldogs. This is the last hurdle between a return trip to the SEC title game. Georgia got off to a slow start against Mississippi last week so they will want to roar out of the gate this week and not let the Tigers into the game.
The conference slate gets started right off the hop for the Georgia Bulldogs and the Missouri Tigers. The ‘Dawgs will see what one of the SEC newcomers brings to the table nice and early in the season.
Week 2 in the college football world gives us a tasty SEC match-up between a team on the rise and the home side Auburn Tigers, with a target on its back and lots to prove after a paltry effort in the opening week.
One of the first games of the 2011 regular season is a clash of one team (Memphis) that has nowhere to go but up after an awful 2010 showing in Conference USA, with another (Mississippi State) having already begun its ascent in the SEC.
