The Ohio State Buckeyes were considered a top three or four team by almost everyone heading into the season. Through the year the team had some rough stretches and there were quite a few questions about the team’s toughness and chemistry, but they put it together at the right time.
Louisville Regular Season: The Cardinals started red hot winning their first 12 games of the season including 5 against eventual tournament teams Ohio, Memphis, Vanderbilt, Western Kentucky and Long Beach State.
Kentucky has had a rather easy road to the Final 4, as all of their wins in the Big Dance have been by double digits. It is no surprise that the Wildcats have the best odds to win the NCAA tournament.
The Kansas Jayhawks were a little lucky to get to the Elite 8, as they did not look good at all in their previous 2 Big Dance games, but they looked stellar in their win over North Carolina, who was the Midwest #1 seed and a pick by many to win the NCAA tourney.

March Madness is the U.S. college basketball championships, also known as the NCAA Tournament.
It covers both men’s and women’s NCAA college tournaments, which take place throughout March to determine the men’s and women’s college basketball champs in the U.S. The tournament starts with 64 teams and after each round of play, the number of teams is whittled down until only two men’s and two women’s teams are left.
I’m a big believer in looking at the past in order to predict the future, so I decided to take a look at last year’s 1st round games. One surprising trend was that favorites went 21-10 against the spread and #1 and #2 seeds were 5-3 against the spread as well. One game had a spread with a pick ‘em spread, which is why there are only 31 games being looked at here.
The mini-Madness is over, as Championship week delivered up tons of drama and entertainment for college basketball bettors…and now the bracket has been set and we march on to the full-meal deal…let the real Madness begin!
What to make of North Carolina?

Let’s take a look at how we can use these outcomes to help predict what will happen in the NCAA tournament, when it matters the most.
If you haven’t noticed yet, college basketball lines have become very sharp, as oddsmakers have almost a full season of statistics and information to use. This past Saturday there were 50 games that ended within 6 points or less of the given spread on the side. That means these 50 games had point spread outcomes that were decided by just 2 possessions!
