Ravens vs. Patriots AFC Championship Preview & Free Pick

Ravens vs Pats AFC Championship Prediction

The winner of this game will play in the Super Bowl two weeks from now. Both of these teams have fallen short despite high expectations over the last few years, and you can bet that they are extremely hungry to get back to the Super Bowl.

New England is the big favorite thanks to a high-powered offense, but the Ravens can’t be discounted with their top-notch defense. Let’s take a closer look at this AFC Championship game.

Baltimore Ravens (13-4) vs. New England Patriots (14-3)
Time/Date: 3:00 PM EST, January 22, 2012
Venue: Gillette Stadium
Broadcast: CBS
Ravens vs. Patriots NFL Gambling Odds from JustBet
Spread: Patriots -7.5
Moneyline: New England (-330) Baltimore (+275)
Over/Under: 50.5

Baltimore’s offense has had an up and down season. Ray Rice is an absolute beast in the backfield, but there have been times throughout the year when this team simply hasn’t used him enough. Rice averaged 4.7 yards per carry, and he also led the team with 76 receptions this season. Rice is one of the most versatile running backs in the NFL, and the Ravens need to use him a lot this weekend. Joe Flacco has been highly criticized in the media this year. He has had his worst season as a pro statistically. Flacco is only completing 57.6% of his passes. He did play pretty well last week against the Texans. Anquan Boldin is the team’s top receiver. The Ravens average 23.6 points per game.

The main reason Baltimore is in the AFC Championship is their tremendous defense. The Ravens rank third in the NFL in total defense. Terrell Suggs has had a great career, but this has been his best season yet. Suggs has racked up 14 sacks and seven forced fumbles already this year. Haloti Ngata and Terrence Cody are a force in the middle of the defensive line. Ray Lewis is once again the team’s leading tackler. Ed Reed is older, but he is still one of the top safeties in the league. It’s tough to find a weak spot on this unit.[soliloquy id=”82219″]

New England’s offense has been a well-oiled machine this year. The Patriots average 32.1 points per contest. Tom Brady threw for 39 touchdowns and just 12 interceptions this year. He has a quarterback rating of 105.9. Brady has an endless amount of weapons to work with in this offense. Rob Gronkowski has 17 touchdowns in 17 games this year. Gronkowski has quickly become the best tight end in football. He is too quick for a linebacker, but too big for a safety or corner. Aaron Hernandez is listed as questionable for this game, but he is also a great tight end who creates mismatches. Wes Welker leads the team in catches with 122, and it would be tough to find a more reliable receiver in the NFL. BenJarvus Green-Ellis, Steven Ridley, and Danny Woodhead carry the ball just enough to keep the defense honest.

The Patriots defense has given up a lot of yards this year, but they have done a nice job limiting the opposition’s touchdowns. New England ranks second to last in the NFL in total yards allowed per game, but they are giving up only 21.4 points per game. Kyle Arrington leads the team with seven interceptions. One source of concern for this group is the fact that their top two tacklers are both cornerbacks.

These teams have met three times in the past three years. All three games have been close, and they have all stayed under the posted total. Look for another game that is lower scoring than expected.

NFL Expert Picks – Win or Go Home for Texans and Dolphins

Texans vs. Dolphins (-3)
(O/U) 45
Sunday, December 27 – 1:00 PM ET

Win or go home!

That’s the slogan for this Sunday’s Week 16 matchup between the Houston Texans (7-7 SU, 6-7-1 ATS, 4-10 O/U) and Miami Dolphins (7-7 SU, 8-6 ATS, 8-6 O/U).

Bills vs Falcons Trends + Week 16 Pick

NFL Lock Alert – Buffalo Bills vs. Atlanta Falcons

Bills vs. Falcons (-9)
(O/U) 41
Sunday, December 27 – 1:00 PM ET

The Atlanta Falcons (7-7 SU, 9-5 ATS, 7-7 O/U) don’t have a shot at making the playoffs this season, but they do have something top play for entering their Week 16 matchup against the Buffalo Bills (5-9 SU, 7-7 ATS, 5-9 O/U).

Packers vs Bears Trends + Week 14 Pick

NFL Week 14 Lock Alert – Cutler, Bears, Host Rodgers, Red-Hot Packers in NFC North Matchup

Packers vs. Bears (+3)
(O/U) 41
Sunday, December 13 1:00 PM ET

The Green Bay (8-4 SU, 7-4-1 ATS, 6-6 O/U) are on a Philly-sized cheesesteak roll NFL pro football betting enthusiasts!

The Packers have won four consecutive games and looked better than ever in their dominating 27-14 Monday Night Football win over the Baltimore Ravens in Week 13.

Jets vs Bucs Trends + Week 14 Pick

NFL Lock Alert – Jets Looking to Put Reeling Buccaneers on Lockdown

Jets vs. Buccaneers (+3)
(O/U) 37
Sunday, December 13 1:00 PM ET

The New York Jets (6-6 SU, 6-6 ATS, 5-6-1 O/U) and Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-11 SU, 4-8 ATS, 6-6 O/U) don’t have much left to play for except pride at this point of their respective regular seasons.

Seahawks vs Texans Trends + Week 14 Pick

NFL Week 14 Lock Alert – Schaub, Reeling Texans Host Hasselbeck, Seahawks

Just one month ago, the Houston Texans (5-7 SU, 5-6-1 ATS, 4-8 O/U) were looking like a likely playoff participant easily en route to recording the first winning season in franchise history.

Now, four weeks – and four consecutive losses – later, the Texans are just trying to get back in the win column while tying the 8-8 regular season record the team has posted in consecutive seasons.

Broncos vs Colts Trends + Week 14 Pick

Pro Football Betting – Broncos and Colts Won’t Be Horsing Around

The Indianapolis Colts have met all challenges this season, mostly in convincing fashion, thanks in large part to quarterback Peyton Manning, the most studious player in the game in my estimation.

This week, the Colts will face another stiff test when they battle the Denver Broncos in an AFC matchup that could turn out to be the best game on the docket for Week 14.

Saints vs Falcons Trends + Week 14 Pick

NFL Lock Alert – Saints Look to Stay Unbeaten Against Division-Rival Falcons

The New Orleans Saints (12-0 SU, 8-4 ATS, 7-5 O/U) dodged a huge bullet in their 33-30 overtime win over the Washington Redskins in Week 13.

The may not be as fortunate this week against a banged-up, but desperate Atlanta Falcons (6-6 SU, 7-5 ATS, 7-5 O/U) team that would love to take their division rivals down a peg or two this week.

Panthers vs Patriots Trends + Week 14 Pick

NFL Week 14 Betting Odds – Carolina Panthers at New England Patriots

In order to keep their dimming postseason hopes alive for another week in the competitive NFC, the Carolina Panthers (5-7 SU, 5-7 ATS 5-7 O/U) must accomplish a feat they haven’t been able to in nearly two months – win consecutive games.

Eagles vs Falcons Trends + Week 13 Pick

Michael Vick Returns to Atlanta – Philadelphia Eagles vs. Atlanta Falcons

NFL Week 13 Betting – Eagles (-5) at Falcons

Eagles (-5½) vs. Falcons
(O/U) 44
Sunday Dec. 6 1:00 PM ET

Simply put, NFL betting enthusiasts, Sunday’s matchup between the Philadelphia Eagles (7-4 SU, 6-5 ATS, 8-3 O/U) and Atlanta Falcons (6-5 SU, 7-4 ATS, 7-4 O/U) has the possibility of turning out to be the best matchup of the week.

Bucs vs Panthers Trends + Week 13 Pick

NFL Parlay Picks – Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Carolina Panthers

NFL Week 13 Parlay – Buccaneers vs. Panthers (-5½)

Sunday, Dec. 6 1:00 PM ET

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers (1-10 SU, 4-7 ATS, 6-5 O/U) and Carolina Panthers (4-7 SU, 4-7 ATS, 5-6 O/U) will both be looking to bounce back from losses in Week 12.

Dolphins vs Bills Trends + Week 12 Pick

NFL Expert Picks – Miami Dolphins (-3) vs. Buffalo Bills

Dolphins (-3) vs. Bills (+3)
(O/U) 40
Sunday, November 29 1:00 PM ET

Reeling Bills Host Red-Hot Dolphins Ricky, don’t lose that number!

The Miami Dolphins (5-5 SU, 5-5 ATS, 6-4 O/U) have looked absolutely fantastic the last two weeks, featuring former league rushing champion Ricky Williams as their go-to guy after Wildcat specialist Ronnie Brown was lost for the remainder of the regular season.
