Bowling Green

The Falcons have had some close calls but they are 3-1 and in first in the MAC East heading into Tuesday. In an amazing turn of events they have gone from being one of the best defenses in FBS to one of the worst – they are giving up 36.5ppg.

Last week they had a surprising loss to Western Michigan at home and they need to bounce back to keep their lead in the division.

They have won 5 straight against the Zips and covered 6 straight so they should be coming in with confidence.

Part of the Falcons struggles this year has been that they have been without QB Matt Johnson nearly the whole season.

Backup James Knapke has not been terrible but with the defense not bailing the team out much this season the turnovers have been more costly.

The Falcons are pretty balances on offense and there is no reason they can not win this one on the road.

Akron

Akron has been streak this season. When they won at Pitt to close September is kicked off a stretch of three wins in a row and put them in the rare position of being the favourite in the division.

They have lost their last two game though, both on the road, and they desperately need this one if they want to stay in the hunt for the division title, or better yet, a bowl slot – dare to dream.

Similar to Bowling Green of last season the defense has been surprisingly getting the job done.

It has to because the offense can be anemic, averaging just 22ppg.

They have ascore over 21 points just twice in their FBS games this season and quarterback Kyle Pohl is questionable at the moment with a concussion.

The passing attack was the only thing that was really working for this club so without him they could really be dead in the water offensively.

It is surprising that they were made the favourite so heavily.
