Stanford

When it comes to the Stanford Cardinal, defense is the name of the game. The team is giving up just 12.5 points per contest, which is good enough for second in the nation.

The goal for Stanford in this one is to do what it did last year against the Ducks: Make them one dimensional. In last season’s 26-20 victory, the Cardinal held Oregon to just 62 yards rushing.

Although the objective in this one will be to slow down Oregon, you can’t assume Stanford will hold the Ducks to zero points through three quarters like last year. This time the Ducks have home-field advantage, which should allow them to put points on the board earlier than they did on the road in 2013.

Oregon

Opposite of the Cardinal, the Ducks’ objective is to simply put as many points on the board as possible. Stanford’s offense isn’t going to be a concern, as it’s averaging just 25.8 points per contest — the 95th-ranked offense in the country.

The Ducks, on the other hand, are posting 45.5 points per contest. That number is good enough for fifth nationwide, and it’s due to a balanced attack.

Passing the ball, Oregon is 16th in the nation, compiling 311.8 yards per game. On the ground, the team is 28th, gaining 223.1 yards in the running game.

This one will come down to what Oregon’s offense can do against the Cardinal’s stout defense.

The Ducks need to establish a balanced attack, or it’s going to be a long night.

Week 10 NCAA Football

A theme in this one is going to be turnovers. Can the Cardinal force Oregon’s consistent offense into mistakes? Can the Ducks take advantage of a lackluster Stanford offense?

Free NCAA Betting Pick 4* Oregon -8

At this point, the Ducks should be considered the only elite team in the Pac-12. Parity has been present, which has caused for entertaining contests week in and week out, but Oregon is the closest thing to a playoff contender as the conference has, and we should see it prove why in Week 10 against Stanford.
