I suppose it could be said that the fact that the Los Angeles Clippers made the playoffs and won a round is a fine accomplishment for a franchise without much history of success…but at least go out with your pants on.
The New York Yankees split a pair in Baltimore to start the week and now it is off to Toronto for another pair against a division opponent.
The Mariners dropped game one of the series without much of a fight.
The Clippers needed all seven games to put away the Memphis Grizzlies in round one.
The Memphis Grizzlies won game five by roaring out of the gate and dominating the first quarter. After that they played the Clippers pretty evenly which doesn’t exactly lead one to believe that this team is going to extend the series to another game.
The Los Angeles Angels are easily the most disappointing team for me this year. This team was supposed to challenge Texas for American League supremacy but they have needed a hot streak lately just to up their record within breathing distance of .500 and third place Seattle.
A lot can change in a week. Last week the Chicago Bulls were wrapping up the best record in the Eastern Conference and seemed destined for a spot in the conference finals and maybe more.
The Baltimore Orioles are the biggest positive surprise in the Majors, adding even more heft to the American League East being the toughest division in baseball.
The Los Angeles Clippers used an epic comeback to steal the first game of the series by a point. They outscored the Grizzlies by 22 points in the final quarter to win and take command of the series on the road.
If the regular season were any longer the Philadelphia 76ers probably wouldn’t be playing in the playoffs right now. Now they have been given a gift in terms of the season ending injury to Bulls guard Derrick Rose.
The Seattle Mariners used a surprising road sweep at Detroit to even their record at 10-10 heading into the weekend.
The Chicago Bulls need just one win in their final two games to clinch the top spot in the Eastern Conference.
The Blue Jays are off to a solid start this year and just whipped through the Royals over the weekend. Now they are in Baltimore looking to avenge a poor home series against the surprising Orioles.
With just a couple of games left it is getting difficult to call some of these games – you just don’t know who is going to be on the court.
It looks like the Yankees have done something everyone else has failed to in this young season – make Texas look beatable.
This is a nice battle among two of the top teams in the American League. As this is being written the Rangers are beating the Tigers in game one of their series, looking to improve their American League best record.
