The Lions desperately needed a week off after a tough start to the season. Unfortunately while they were licking their wounds things were getting even tougher with the Vikings winning again and the Eagles losing a nail-biter to Pittsburgh that has to have them pretty mad.
Stop the presses, Fresno State is 6-0 ATS this season. Clearly they are doing much better than expected, including playing Oregon closer than anybody else (sort of…they backed into a cover after being down 35-6).
The final score made it look closer than it really was for West Virginia at Texas last week. It was their first road contest as a member of the BIg 12 and they passed, continuing their ascent up the national rankings.
When Syracuse was 0-2 with a close loss to Northwestern and a relatively impressive performance against USC some were thinking the program is finally getting back to some solid footing before it bolts to the ACC.
Its funny, Alabama continues to win easily but fails to impress…kind of. They are just 2-3 ATS this season and as the wins mount they seem to be not a very interesting part of the BCS conversation…perhaps it is because they are too obvious.
This is not a very good Iowa team but they are one of just two teams in the Big Ten Legends division that has yet to lose a conference game (1-0).
After sneaking a victory on the road at Oklahoma State the Texas Longhorns stumbled last Saturday, running into the buzzsaw that is West Virginia and QB Geno Smith.
It is hard to tell whether Philadelphia is lucky or whether things are just evening out this year. This team has three wins by a combined 4 points and an ugly loss to Arizona.
The Bears are in good really shape after beating Dallas rather easily on Monday night. They are currently tied for the lead in the NFC North and their next 4 games are very winnable. Perhaps none more so than this week’s trip to Jacksonville.
The Bills absolutely fell apart last week.
It might seem obvious but this team is just not good enough, or mentally tough enough, to afford any mistakes…and when they come in bunches they are literally dead in the water.
The Broncos sent a message by throttling Oakland last week. How much that message takes will depend on how they perform against New England. In the second half last week Denver showed just how good this team can be.
There was every reason to think the Huskies program might slide after last year success especially because they graduated do everything QB Chandler Harnish.
Since joining the ACC it seems like the Seminoles have had more trouble with NC State than any other program.
It has been a weird start to the season for Virginia. Since coach Mike London took over there have been glimpses of a program on the rise but this year they have been outclassed far too often.
From darkhorse BCS challenger to SEC West doormat…that didn’t take long. Arkansas is clearly not having the season they expected and it is amazing to think they have just 1 victory in 5 tries on the season.
It is hard to gauge just how good this Utah State team really is. The reality is that they are just a few points away from a perfect record that could have included a victory over Wisconsin at Madison.
