Betting On The 2010 Masters?

Have you heard? Some guy named Tiger Woods will tee it up at the 2010 Masters

Is it the most anticipated golf moment in history? Less than six months ago, Tiger Woods was an untouchable icon, the most popular athlete in the world and seemingly a lock to crush Jack Nicklaus’ record of 18 career major tournament wins.

Northern Trust Open – Riviera CC, Pacific Palisades, California

Purse: $6,400,000

The PGA Tour continues with the California swing as it stops at Riviera Country Club for the Northern Trust Open. Formerly known as the Nissan Open, this event usually brings in a solid field and that is the case again this year.

The strong field is a plus but going up against the Super Bowl isn’t ideal even though kickoff will be after the trophy is hoisted.

2009 Tour Championship Gambling

Golf Betting: The Tour Championship

Betting on golf doesn’t get much simpler than this. Only 30 men are competing at the 2009 Tour Championship, and only one of those men is Tiger Woods.

The Tour Championship is the last stop on the FedExCup trail; the list of participants has been whittled down to the Top 30 players in the points standings, and the points have been reset going into Thursday’s opening round at East Lake Golf Club in Atlanta, Ga.

Here is your new Top 5 list:

British Open Review

Bodog Sportsbook 2009 British Open Recap

The British Open is the hardest event in golf – hardest to win, and hardest on the soul, as Tom Watson can tell you.

Watson went to the 18th tee at 3-under and one stroke ahead of Stewart Cink, who earlier drained a 12-foot birdie putt on the final hole to stay within shouting distance of the 59-year-old legend. Needing only to make an eight-foot par putt to claim his sixth Open Championship and first since 1983, Watson came up short. Then Cink easily put away his opponent by six strokes over the four-hole playoff to hoist the Claret Jug for the first time.

Golf Majors Handicapping: British Open Preview

The third Major of the golf season takes place this week with the Open Championship at Turnberry in Ayrshire, Scotland. This will be the fourth time the Open has been played here and the first since 1994 when Nick Price finished birdie-eagle-par and held off Jesper Parnevik to win by a stroke. The other times were in 1986 (Greg Norman) and 1977 (Tom Watson). The reason for the time off from the rotation was due to traffic issues to the course but all has been fixed.

Golf Handicapping: John Deere Classic PGA Preview

John Deere Classic Preview

The week before a Major can be a crapshoot on which players are going to tee it up and which players will be taking the week off to rest. In the case of the week before the Open Championship, it is pretty cut and dry as most big name players are going to relax and take their time heading over the pond to Turnberry and the year’s third Major.

That leaves the John Deere Classic with a lack of star quality this week but it nonetheless should be a quality tournament.

AT&T National Preview

The tour heads to Bethesda, MD and Congressional Country Club for the AT&T National which is hosted by none other than Tiger Woods. Tiger missed his own tournament last season because of the knee surgery that sidelined him for nearly 10 months. He is back and is the big favorite this week in what is a healthy but not overly impressive field.

Only four of the OWGR Top Ten players are in action with Paul Casey (3), Vijay Singh (9) and Jim Furyk (10) joining Tiger.

The One-Man Stimulus Package

There is a lone African American out there who all are turning to. The ship has gone terribly off course – especially over the past few months – and only he apparently can set it straight.

It wasn’t long ago where everyone was prospering, the banks were lined up, flush with cash to contribute their bit to the cause. Now most are all but insolvent, corporations are falling left and right and things appear to be almost hopeless.
