You have to go all the way back to the 2000 season to find the last time New England posted a losing record (5-11) and was out of the division title race. That was Bill Belichick’s first year as head coach and since that point his teams have won the AFC East in 11 of the next 13 seasons.

The Carolina Panthers took their turn at winning the NFC South title in 2013 with 12 wins, but heading into the new season the Oddsmakers like the Saints’ chances to capture their fourth division title since 2006.
Luck has everything to do with the Colts odds. Indianapolis took a brief hiatus from dominating the AFC South in 2011 with Peyton Manning lost for the season, but they are back on top under the guidance of his replacement Andrew Luck.
The NFC North was a major disappointment during the 2013 NFL season. The Green Bay Packers won the division, but they did it with an unimposing 8-7-1 record. This, of course, came after the group had three teams with double-digit wins the year before.
NFL.com’s Adam Schein recently wrote the following about the 2014 NFC South:
“I get paid to have an opinion. That’s how I make a living. The words “I don’t know” usually don’t fly in my world. However, I’m asking for an exception.
There’s still plenty of time between now and the first game of the upcoming NFL season, but the alert bettor is always looking ahead, and with lines available for Week 1, attempting to find value in those lines is something we can do now.
