Carolina nearly pulled off a great victory against Chicago last weekend,,,choking it away in the second half. Still it was another step in the right direction. The Panthers have lost 5 in a row but the last 4 have been by a combined 12 points.
After a mediocre start the Packers (5-3) are looking like the Packers on the last few seasons and they have won 3 straight, but still trail the 6-1 Bears in the NFC North.
Nobody is really talking about the Bears (6-1) as being legit Super Bowl contenders, but their defense has been solid and they have won 5 straight. The Titans (3-5) are coming off a tough loss and if they lose this game they may be out of the playoff picture already.
The Ravens (5-2) are coming off their worst loss in 5 years, but they have had the Browns’ number in the last few seasons. However, the Browns (2-6) have won 2 of their last 2 games and in their last couple of games they have really stepped up on defense.
The Dolphins (3-3) and Jets (3-4) have some bad blood between them after their week 3 game where All-Pro cornerback Darrelle Revis was lost for the season with a knee injury and Reggie Bush was taken off the field after a vicious hit.
The Denver Broncos put on a clinic last week at home against the New Orleans Saints. The Cincinnati Bengals had a bye week after getting beaten by the Steelers at home two weeks ago.
The Chiefs lost their 4th in a row last Sunday and things don’t get much easier with back to back road games against San Diego and Pittsburgh.
Jacksonville is one of the worst teams in the league, Jacksonville without Maurice Jones Drew is likely the worst and it might not be that close.

Miami Dolphins vs. New York Jets Preview

Ryan Tannehill does not have the best WR corps, but unlike early in the season he is not making mistakes and he has not been picked off in his last 2 games. Bush is the leading rusher for the Dolphins, but even though the Dolphins have won their last 2 games he has failed to average over 2.5 yards per carry in either of those games. Mark Sanchez passed for 323 yards past week with 1 TD and 1 INT and the only other time he passed for over 300 yard this season was the earlier game facing the Dolphins. However, he was picked off twice in that game. His WR corps is banged up, but Jeremy Kerley has been playing well. While Miami only ranks 28th in pass D they have a good pass rush and pressuring Sanchez in the pocket will be key for them in this game.
The Dolphins run defense has been great this season, ranking 3rd in the league, and Jets’ RB Shonn Greene left the Patriots game with a head injury, but he should go in this game. Still, he has averaged over 4 yards per carry this season in only 1 game and that was facing a weak run defense of the Colts.

The Pittsburgh Steelers came up with a much-needed win last weekend in Cincinnati. Washington’s last-minute loss at New York was a particularly tough one to take.
This year has been a huge disappointment for Carolina. They were supposed to be building off of last year’s surprising success to become at least a threat in the NFC South.
It was close but no cigar for Tampa Bay last Sunday. Against a desperate New Orleans squad they almost pulled out a win late.
The Saints finally got a win under their belt and then the bye week hit, seemingly stirring up more suspension and Bountygate stories. If they are going to do the impossible and get back in this thing they can afford two more losses by estimation.
