The New Mexico Lobos went 3-9 in 2013, but the bigger concern is that they only managed to win one conference game—a 45-37 defeat over Air Force.
Stanford is 17-12-2 ATS with an O/U record of 14-16-1 and New Mexico is 17-12 ATS with an O/U record of 12-17.
The 2013-14 NCAA basketball season has brought us to championship week, and with the Mountain West Conference putting together one good game after another, we’ve finally got the New Mexico Lobos and the San Diego State Aztecs ready to face off in the title game.
So many leagues try and set up these dramatic final regular season games and it falls flat. That is not the case for the Mountain West this season as these teams are tied for first place in the league with identical 15-2 records.
The Fresno State Bulldogs are continuing their journey to be this year’s bowl buster. The New Mexico Lobos are looking to pull off a massive upset and throw a monkey wrench into the Bulldogs’ plans.
The Aztecs postseason position should be secure but this win would only help. It would give them an outside shot at the Mountain West regular season crown and a sweep over the Lobos for the season – they are the only ranked team they have beaten this year.
The Lobos are leading the Mountain West Conference with a 9-2 record – both of those losses were on the road against top competition (UNLV and San Diego State).
The Lobos are good but I don’t think anybody thought they would be leading the Mountain West this season. So far they are undefeated in conference play having already beaten UNLV and looking to get a leg up on San Diego State after this weekend.
New Mexico comes into this third round matchup aiming to win its first ever back-to-back game set in the NCCA tournament, but it won’t be an easy task against a Louisville Cardinals team who have posted five straight wins after beating 13th-seeded Davidson in the opening round on Thursday.
Among the several exciting games coming down the pipes for Week 2, sadly this isn’t one of them. Arkansas is a strong SEC West division program with noble aspirations in 2011, while the Lobos are rather a mess.
The New Mexico Lobos continued their loosing ways in 2010, their third bowl-less season in a row. Now their conference is tougher and their quarterback situation is as dicey as it gets.
