2014 World Cup – Group C Betting Preview & Soccer Lines

World Cup Futures Betting: Group C

While Group C appears to be fairly evenly matched, and there are plenty of different styles within the group that should make for some relatively interesting and competitive matches. [ad-1519080]

Any of the four teams could move on, and with four different confederations represented here, World Cup handicappers are going to be left scratching their heads when trying to figure out who moves on the knockout rounds.

Columbia

(+12500 to win World Cup)

Ranked No. 4 by FIFA after finishing in second place behind Argentina during CONMEBOL qualifying, the Columbians are the group favorites in Las Vegas.

And when combined with the recent return of Radamel Falcao, who will add to the already potent tandem of James Rodriguez and Jackson Martinez, which could make this the most dangerous side in the group for any team.

Ivory Coast

(+1400 to win World Cup) [dfads params=’groups=63740&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

After a disappointing finish in the 2010 World Cup, Ivory Coast will arrive in Brazil with high hopes, as they look to advance to the second round for the first time in the country’s third appearance at the World Cup.

With players like Yaya Toure and Didier Drogba, much is being expected after losing the final of the African Nations Cup twice in recent years.

Greece

(+6600 to win World Cup)

Probably the best defensive team in the group, Greece finished tied on points in qualifying with Bosnia-Herzegovina, and will look to make it out of the knock out stage for the first time. The Greeks are not just good defensively; they also have a decent attack.

They start their campaign against Colombia and if their defense can keep Radamel Falcao contained, with a little luck could finally make an impact on the world stage this summer.

Japan

(+7000 to win World Cup)

After being eliminated from World Cup action in 2010, Japan finished with more points than any other nation during Asian qualifying.

The Samurai Warriors are the reigning AFC Asian Cup champions, and could be a sleeper in summer’s World Cup as they play in their fifth consecutive finals.

Japan’s opening match against the Ivory Coast could be the deciding factor in whether or not they can make a run at the knockout rounds and with their next game against Greece in Natal, they are predicted to win.

Their toughest test will be in their final game when they take on Colombia.

Prediction: The Ivory Coast and Greece are my picks for advancing out the group stage, in that order.

The Columbians are good, but I don’t expect Falcao to be as big a threat as the odd makers and fans are predicting.

Defense is going to be key in a group that can put up some goals, leaving Greece and the Ivory Coast the one to beat here.
