Oakland Raiders vs. St. Louis Rams Preview

On the season the Raiders are 6-5 ATS and they have an O/U record of 6-5 and the Rams are 5-6 ATS and they have an Under record of 6-5.

This season the Rams are 2-3 at home and the Raiders are 0-5 on the road.

In their last games the Raiders beat the Kansas City Chiefs 24-20 and the Rams lost to the San Diego Chargers 27-24.

Well, the Raiders got their first win of the season in their last game, which snapped their 16-game losing streak. However, they are back out on the road and 7-point underdogs to a Rams’ team that already has some big wins this season and almost upset the Chargers in their last game.

On of the main reasons the Raiders finally got in the W column is that they had their best rushing game of the season. They will have a chance to do that against facing a St. Louis run defense that ranks 19th in the league.

Derek Carr has been decent this season and had the game winning TD pass in the win over Kansas City.

He does not have a lot to work with at a thin WR position, but James Jones and Andre Holmes have combined for over 1,000 receiving yards this season and each has 4 TD, The Rams’ pass D ranks 21st in the league and in the loss to the Chargers allowed 282 passing yards.

One key in this game is the Rams’ pass rush, which has been playing well after a slow start. However, the Raiders have been decent this season in protecting their rookie QB.

Latavius Murray rushed for 112 yards including a 90-yard TD and the seldom-used Marcel Reese was solid with 37 rushing yards on 8 carries. These guys have to run the ball well in this game, as Carr cannot be counted on to do it all to carry the offense.

Shaun Hill is back at the QB for the Rams, but like the Raiders they also have a less than stellar WR corps. Hill had a decent game against the Chargers, but his IMT last in the game thwarted the St. Louis rally.

Tre Mason is the leading rusher f or the Rams and after a great game rushing for 122 yards in the shocking win over the Broncos he was only decent last week facing the Chargers.

While the Raiders have had major issues against the run this season they held the red-hot KC RB in Jamaal Charles in check in the last game. Overall, on D Oakland ranks 12th against the pass and 25th against the run.

I am going with the Raiders in this game, as they have the monkey off their back and they will play well on the road to cover the spread.
