Tennessee Titans vs. Houston Texans Preview

On the season the Titans are 3-7-1 ATS and they have an O/U record of 5-6 and the Texans are 6-5 ATS and they have an Under record of 6-6.

This season the Texans are 2-3 at home and the Titans are 1-5 on the road.

In their last games the Texans lost to the Cincinnati Bengals 22-13 and the Titans lost to the Philadelphia Eagles 43-24.

The Texans are 1-game under .500 and they have lost 5 of their last 7games, but if they finish strong they still have a chance to make the playoffs. On the other side of the coin the best thing the Titans have to look forward to is another high draft pick.

The Titans were crushed last week and they have lost 5 straight games. They still are sticking with rookie QB Zach Mettenberger, who has been decent in the last 2 games with 4 TD and 2 INT but the Tennessee defense has been torched as of late.

The big question in this game is will Adrian Foster play? Before his injury the Houston RB ranked 2nd in the league in rushing yards per game and he is the big gun for Houston. If he can go it will be a major worry for Tennessee, as they rank dead last in the league in run defense.

After winning his first career start Ryan Mallett did not look good in losing last week to the Bengals where he passed for 199 yards, completed less than 50% of his passes, and was picked off without throwing a TD. DeAndre Hopkins is the leading WR on the team and while Andre Johnson was targets 12 times last week he only had 3 catches.

If Foster cannot go than Alfred Blue, who really struggled in the Cincy game, will get the start for the 3rd straight game. Tennessee’s defense did have 2 INT last week facing the Eagles, but they gave up 298 passing yards and 164 rushing yards.

Zach Mettenberger did have a big game last week and while WR Delanie Walker had 155 receiving yards the Titans are still thin at the WR position. Mettenberger may have to light up the scoreboard for the Titans to pull off the upset in the Lone Star State and he may just do that facing a Houston pass D that ranks 2nd to last in the league.

Bishop Sankey did not have a solid game against the Eagles and for the season the Tennessee leading rusher is averaging less than 4 yards per carry. Houston ranks in the middle of the pack in run defense and gave up 139 rushing yards in the Cincy loss.

Earlier this season in Tennessee the Texans beat the Titans 30-16.

4* Cappers NFL Free Pick

Have to go with the Texans in this one, as I think Foster will go and whoever runs the ball for Houston will have a big game.
