2014 Green Bay Packers: NFL Schedule | Season Handicapping Picks

NFL Football – Packers Analysis

Green Bay is definitely the favourite to repeat as division champs in the NFC North. Last year they scraped into the playoffs but the consensus is that had Aaron Rodgers not been hurt for a stretch that would have been far from the case. This is still one of the better offensive teams in the football and the defense should be improved. We will find out soon enough as they open their season up in Seattle on Thursday.

Sep 4 @ Seattle – These teams will be forever linked by that fiasco up in Seattle a couple of seasons back. Two of the better teams in the league for sure but I think the Seahawks will clip them again at home.

Sep 14 vs. New York Jets – The Packers get their first win in their home opener against the Jets, who won’t put up much of a fight. They have a tough opening month and this might be the only win they get.

Sep 21 @ Detroit – The first division game for GB should be a back and forth affair with the Lions. Look for whoever has the ball last to have a chance to win and to maybe fade GB coming off their first win.

Sep 28 @ Chicago – If they lose up in Detroit it will be a desperate Packers team heading to the Windy City. The Packers just might have the hardest first half of the schedule of any team in the league this season. This week will not be easy.

Oct 2 vs. Minnesota – A third straight divisional game but this one will be a walk in the park. They are back at home and really Minnesota is not much of a threat overall. This won’t be another tie like last season.

Oct 12 @ Miami – This is a huge game for Green Bay who could easily have a losing record at this point. Miami is looking to be much improved but the Packers should be better. After a bunch of really tough road games they need to get this one.

Oct 19 vs. Carolina – Last year this would have been a highly anticipated matchup but this year the divide between these two teams will be much greater the Pack look to get on a roll with a home victory.

Oct 26 @ New Orleans – That roll is going to have to wait because New Orleans is almost as difficult as Seattle for visiting teams. This could easily be the most exciting game of the entire season and the Packers will have the bye week next to reset.

Nov 2 – BYE

Nov 16 vs. Philadelphia – This should be another fantastic offensive game for fand and this time Packers fans go home happy. Green Bay is starting to looking a lot like the team they thought we would the question is whether there is enough time left.

Nov 23 @ Minnesota – Beating the Vikings on the road shouldn’t be too hard, they thumped them last year on the road. Also, this might be getting into Teddy Bridgewater territory for Minnesota as this point.

Nov 30 vs.. New England – The Cheeseheads will have been looking forward to this one for a while. Green Bay is building steam and even Tom Brady and Co. won’t outdo Aaron Rodgers in yet another high scoring affair.

Dec 8 vs. Atlanta  – A couple of seasons ago this would have been a nice matchup late in the season but other than New Orleans the Packers will have no trouble navigating through the NFC South.

[dfads params=’groups=63752&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

Dec 14 @ Buffalo – The Packers got all of their difficult road games out of the way early. This trip up to Buffalo in the cold will be no biggie, might actually feel more like a home game if there is snow on the ground.

Dec 21 @ Tampa Bay – Green Bay finishes their tour of the NFC South with a trip to Tampa. Some see the Bucs as a sleeper this season but I think it is going to take longer for Lovie to work his magic. Another GB victory.

Dec 28 vs. Detroit – One or both of these teams will need this game to make the playoffs and this could decide the division. There will definitely be snow on the ground so odds are the Packers take advantage of the soft Lions.
