While Memphis can celebrate their 63-0 win over Austin Peay in week 1, it may have come at a cost for week two. It did come with some impressive stats, though.

On the opposite side of the ball, UCLA learned some things about their team after there were some big questions heading into week one. And with just one game under their belt, the Bruins aren’t worried about a thing…..yet.

Memphis

The 63-0 thumping of Austin Peay was impressive. Even more impressive was the SEVEN rushing touchdowns the team had despite still passing the ball 27 times. Leading the ground attack was Jarvis Cooper who had 8 carries for 101 yards and a score.

Starting quarterback Paxton Lynch had himself a game, throwing for 242 yards, 2 touchdowns and an interception. He also rushed 5 times for 34 yards and two more scores on the ground.

His top three receivers finished within 10 yards of each other. Keiwone Malone had 3 catches for 58 yards while Mose Frazier had 4 catches for 55 yards and a touchdown and Alan Cross had 4 grabs for 48 yards and a touchdown of his own.

Two big concerns for the Tigers in this one are whether or not their star defensive end, Martin Ifedi, who was among the nations leaders in sacks last season and whether or not the offense can hold onto the ball after fumbling the ball four times last week.

#11 UCLA

UCLA should be happy about their 28-20 win over Virginia. While it wasn’t a blowout, it did show that the UCLA defense was going to be ready this season. It also showed that the team’s offensive line needs more work before they can truly help Heisman hopeful QB Brett Hundley reach the achievement.

Hundley was 20 of 33 for 242 yards through the air. He also ran the ball 15 times for 39 yards and the team’s only offensive score of the game.

On the ground, Paul Perkins led the Bruins with 16 rushes for 80 yards. It is clear that Perkins is the team’s number one as Jordon James only received 5 attempts in the game. Through the air, Jordan Payton is taking his #1 WR billing and running with it. In week one, he had 8 catches for 98 yards.

On defense, the Bruins scored three of the team’s four touchdowns. Eric Kendricks made a name for himself immediately, registering 16 tackles, a forced fumble and an interception returned for a touchdown.

Ishmael Adams also had an interception returned for a touchdown while Randall Goforth recovered a fumble and returned IT 75 yards for a touchdown.

Week 2 NCAA Football Prediction

This game might be closer than people think. UCLA doesn’t need a huge, flashy offense to win games and last week proved that. Knowing his defense can pick up the slack will only give Hundley more confidence coming into this game.

Memphis will give them all they have, but it won’t be enough.
