The Connecticut Huskies head south on I95 to take on the Temple Owls in a Big East-MAC matchup this Saturday afternoon in Philadelphia.

Connecticut (1-1) rebounded from a 30-10 pasting by Michigan on the road in its opener by delivering a 62-3 pasting of its own to Texas Southern at home this past Saturday. In the game against the Wolverines, the Huskies closed as a three point road underdog. The total stayed just ‘under’ the 51 ½  point line. They easily covered their next game against the Tigers as a 39 ½ point home favorite.

UConn QB Zach Frazer struggled in the game against Michigan, completing just 48.6 percent of his passes for 205 yards. The offense only generated a total of 243 yards but RB Jordan Todman did rush for 105 yards on 20 carries. Texas Southern’s defense was a different story as the Huskies exploded for 444 yards of total offense with 307 yards coming on the ground. Todman ran for 151 yards on 15 carries and RB Robbie Frey added another 101 yards on 12 carries. NFL Betting

Temple (2-0, 1-0) comes into this game with a solid 31-24 win over a very good IAA Villanova team in its opener and a thrilling 13-10 OT win over last year’s MAC champion; Central Michigan. The Owls covered as a 4 ½ point home favorite in their first game with the total going ‘over’ the 48 point line. They failed to cover the spread as a 7 ½ point favorite last Saturday and the total stayed way ‘under’ the 47 point total.

The Owls QB Chester Stewart completed 16-of-27 attempts for 200 yards against Villanova and was 16-of-22 for 151 yards against Central Michigan. In its first two games, Temple has only generated 587 yards of total offense ranking them 90th in nation. RB Bernard Pierce is the leading rusher with 132 yards on 30 carries and one TD. WR Michael Campbell leads the team with nine receptions for 136 yards and one TD as well.

Connecticut is 6-4 straight up in its last 10 games and 7-3 against the spread. The Huskies are 2-3 SU and 4-1 ATS in their last five games on the road.

Temple is 8-2 SU in its last 10 games and 6-4 ATS. The Owls are 5-1 SU at home over their last six games and 3-3 ATS.

Head-to-head, these teams have met three times in the last six seasons with the Huskies winning all three SU with the Owls covering the spread each time. Connecticut will have its hands full trying to move the ball against a tough Temple defense that plays especially well at home. This one has the makings of a good, hard fought battle that stays closer than 6 ½ points.

Betting Trends:
Connecticut is 0-5 ATS in its last 5 games when playing Temple
The total has gone OVER in 9 of Temple’s last 10 games
Temple is 7-1 SU in its last 8 games at home
Temple is 11-2 SU in its last 13 games
Connecticut is 5-1 SU in its last 6 games
Connecticut is 2-4 SU in its last 6 games on the road
The total has gone OVER in 5 of Temple’s last 6 games at home

The Pick: Temple +6 ½
