Iowa State Cyclones vs. No 9 Oklahoma Sooners Preview

However, the Sooners are at home and they have beaten the Cyclones 12 straight times. NCAAF lines have Oklahoma as big 28-point favorites with a total of 62.

In their last games Iowa State shocked Oklahoma State beating them 37-31 in 2 OT and Oklahoma lost to the Baylor Bears 45-38.

The Sooners have crushed the Cyclones in their last 3 games, but Iowa State has won 3 straight and is playing with a ton of confidence.

ISU QB Jared Barnett has played well since taking over under center and in the upset win over Oklahoma State he passed for 376 yards with 3 TD and 2 INT. He may have another good game facing a struggling Oklahoma pass defense that has given up an average of nearly 380 passing yards in 3 of their last 4 games.

The Iowa State offensive line has a tall task in this game facing an Oklahoma pass rush that ranks 3rd in the nation with 36 sacks. [soliloquy id=”82219″]

Barnett is also a threat to move the chains with his legs, as he has 301 rushing yards with a TD in the Cyclones 3-game winning streak and he and RB James White will be facing an OU run defense that ranks 38th in the nation.

Iowa State’s pass defense only ranks 82nd in the league and they will be facing Landry Jones and an Oklahoma passing offense that ranks 3rd in the nation. The loss of leading WR Ryan Broyles is HUGE, but even though OU lost to Baylor last week Jones passed for 447 yards.

The Sooners rushed for 158 yards last week against Baylor and Iowa State’s run defense only ranks 95th in the nation. With the defensive issues the Cyclones have they must force some turnovers and in their win over OSU they forced 5 of them and in their loss to Baylor OU committed 3 turnovers.

If the Sooners do not turn the ball over Barnett and the ISU offense will have to light up the scoreboard and win in a shootout.

Betting Trends

This season Oklahoma is 6-4 ATS and has an O/U record of 6-4 and Iowa State is 5-5 ATS and has an O/U record of 4-6.

Iowa State is 2-5 ATS in their last 7 games following a ATS win, 1-5 ATS in their last 6 road games against teams with a winning home record, and has an Under record of 8-2 in their last 10 road games.
Oklahoma is 8-3 ATS in their last 11 home games, 9-4 ATS in their last 13 games as a favorite of 10.5 points or more, and has an Over record of 6-2 in their last 8 games.
Oklahoma is 5-1 ATS in their last 6 games against Iowa State.

Jason’s Pick: While I do not think Iowa State will score another upset they will not get blown out and they will cover the big 28-point spread. Take the Over as well, as this game will be a shootout.
