These two teams met last year at Illinois with Gonzaga winning by 2 in overtime 85-83.
Illinois is expected to push hard in the Big Ten this season. They may not be quite at the level of Ohio State and Michigan State but they are a veteran club with one of the better guards in the nation in Dametri McCamey. Thus far they have been perfect except for a neutral site loss to Texas. 
This weekend they are part of the Battle in Seattle where they are going to feel like they are on the road although it is technically a neutral site game. They are going to have revenge on their mind after losing to the Zags last year.
If they are going to get it they are going to need their big three of McCamey, Mike Davis and Mike Tisdale to have good games. Especially Tisdale who will be important in trying to neutralize Gonzaga big Robert Sacre whow continues to improve.
Although only 4-2 Gonzaga is still one of the better teams on the West Coast. Their losses are to ranked teams in San Diego State and Kansas State and they proved this team is good but perhaps a notch below some teams of recent vintage. The early going has also demonstrated how valuable Elias Harris is to this group.
He has been hobbled and in and out of the lineup. His numbers are down and no one has stepped up. Meanwhile, Steven Gray has taken over for Matt Bouldin in terms of leadership and scoring. He is currently averaging more than 20ppg and has even shown some Adam Morrison level shotmaking ability.
When he is on he can keep them in the game – witness the 35 he scored against the Aztecs.
