ATS Matchup Insight | CappersPicks Insider Preview

Few teams have been able to keep pace with the Thunder over the last month. The team has won 14 of their last 15 games, and they’ve been doing so on the back of a high-powered offense. Kevin Durant leads the Association with 28.5 points per game, while Oklahoma City’s 17.8 fast break points per game rank near the top of the league. The team scored 28 fast break points in their last outing, a 101-98 win over Orlando.

That game was never as close as the final score would indicate, as the Thunder mailed in the fourth quarter. The team’s offense was of course keyed by Durant who put up a game-high 28 points on 11 of 18 shooting with nine boards, five assists, two blocks, and a steal. Point guard Russell Westbrook added 20 points and 12 boards in 33 minutes. As a team, the Thunder shot 44.8 percent from the floor in the game, but just 26.3 percent from the land beyond.

Orlando was able to boost their stats in the fourth quarter. The team shot 45.1 percent on the night, with shooting guard Arron Afflalo leading the way in the scoring department with 25 points. Point guard Jameer Nelson added 13 points with four three-points and eight assists.

Denver also came away with a win in their last game, a 102-93 victory over New Orleans.

A pair of players tied for the team lead in scoring in that one as forwards J.J. Hickson and Wilson Chandler each poured in 19 points. Hickson continues to be a double-double machine, adding 11 boards. Point guard Ty Lawson continues to quietly be a force for the team, scoring 12 points with eight assists, leading the team in minutes.

At the other end of the court, the team had trouble containing Ryan Anderson who poured in 26 points in 41 minutes. Shooting guard Eric Gordon couldn’t find his stroke but managed to dish out six assists, second on the team to only Jrue Holiday who had seven. The Pelicans shot 43.5 percent from the floor in the game.

Both teams should get their points in this one. Backing the over in Denver has been a favorable proposition in recent years and it should be no different in this one against a fast-paced Oklahoma City team that will look to run the Nuggets off their own court.

The over is 3-1-1 in the last five meetings between these teams.
