Matchup Stats | ATS Insider Preview

Their loss to UConn snapped a five-game winning streak for the Gators, but they got back into the win column with a victory over Andrew Wiggins and national favorite Kansas in their last game, 67-61.

The game was the second in a stretch of three consecutive tilts against ranked opponents for Florida. Billy Donovan’s squad was able to hold off Kansas down the stretch and ride a strong first half to victory against the Jayhawks.

The hero of the night was Scottie Wilbekin, as the senior put up a career-high 18 points, vindication for Wilbekin who missed the start of the year due to a suspension. He hit on 7 of 15 shots from the field including two from long-range, adding six assists and four steals. Dorian Finney-Smith was the team’s next leading scorer, putting up 15 points off the bench as part of a full stat sheet with four triples, five rebounds, and two steals.

As a team, the Gators shot just 37 percent from the field, and just 58.8 percent from the charity stripe, numbers that will not cut it against Memphis.

The team did a fair job of containing Andrew Wiggins at the defensive end. Wiggins saw 37 minutes of action and scored 26 points, adding 11 rebounds. He hit on 4 of 9 shots from three and all eight of his free throw attempts.

Memphis was victorious in their last game as well, extending their winning streak to six games. The team’s lone loss was at Oklahoma State. Their most recent win was a cupcake matchup with Arkansas-Little Rock which they won 73-59.

Forward Shaq Goodwin was the catalyst in that matchup, scoring 17 points and adding nine rebounds. Joe Jackson matched his 17 points but hit on only 3 of 11 shots from the field, but did pour in 9 of 10 shots from the charity stripe. As a team, the Tigers shots just 39 percent from the floor.

The team did a fair job at the defensive end, limiting the Trojans to a 35.8 percent shooting clip. Josh Hagins tied for the game-high in scoring with 17 points for Arkansas-Little Rock.

Memphis will be bringing the more talented squad to New York, and if they can get their offense rolling against a tough Gator defense, there won’t be any looking back.

The Tigers are 6-0 ATS in their last six games following an ATS loss, and 5-1 ATS in their last six neutral site games.

The play: Memphis +2
