Utah is a pretty good spot for that sort of thing so there should be some value with the visitors.

Miami

The road has not been kind to Miami of late as they have dropped four of five on their current trip.

Most recently they were blitzed by Denver in the second half on Wednesday night, losing by 20.

This is their last game of the trip before a home date against the Bulls so it is possible they might be looking ahead as they face this limited Utah team.

If that is the case Miami is in trouble because they just don’t have the talent to coast anymore. They can play with most teams but only when they are on their game.

The Heat are playing different this year with Dwayne Wade taking on more of a facilitator role.

To be honest I don’t get it. Rather than try and make Mario Chalmers a combo guard I would suggest just getting rid of him and finding someone who can actually play the point.

It is not that Wade can’t but I think you lose something overall with the way they have been playing and it is not like the results support it.

Utah

The Jazz are in rebuild mode but I don’t think it is working.

Individually they have some useful players but when you put it all together the results have not been there and I wonder how long an organization that was a model franchise for a time can stick with this group.  This team just has no identity right now and it is hard to see how things are going to get any better.

Further, whatever homecourt advantage they had in the days of Stockton and Malone has definitely gone. This franchise is irrelevant.

This team will not make any sort of leap until Trey Burke plays better.

He has been awful shooting the ball and until he can he will never be the kind of Steph Curry type PG they want him to be. He has guts but it looks like his best performances are behind him not ahead.

He takes heat but the overall roster is light.

Other than rookies Dante Exum and Rodney Hood I am not sure there is anyone they bring off the bench other teams would want on their rosters.

NBA Handicapping Trends:

  • Under is 4-0 in Heat last 4 road games.
  • Heat are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 road games vs. a team with a losing home record.
  • Under is 4-0 in Heat last 4 when their opponent scores 100 points or more in their previous game.
  • Over is 5-0 in Jazz last 5 vs. a team with a losing S.U. record.
  • Jazz are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a S.U. win.
  • Jazz are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 after scoring 100 points or more in their previous game.
  • Heat are 1-4 ATS in the last 5 meetings in Utah.
  • Over is 6-2-1 in the last 9 meetings in Utah.
  • Heat are 13-5 ATS in the last 18 meetings.

NBA Prediction:  Miami -2

I am expecting the Heat to rebound but I am also a fan of fading the Jazz in most situations.

NBA Score prediction:  Miami 97 – Utah 90

There is good value with Miami Friday night.
