The Dodgers are in tight against San Fran and need to take advantage of the other team by the Bay.
Athletics
Are there any players left on the A’s? It seems like all their wheeling and dealing is finally done but I am not sure if this team is all that much worse.

With all due respect to the players that were traded I expected Scott Kazmir to fall apart healthwise, Ben Zobrist was hurt for a chunk of the season and Tyler Clippard was just a closer.
This team was never in the race this season but I am not expecting them to fall off the map now that they have stocked the contending teams.
Jesse Chavez is not Sonny Gray but he has definitely pitched better than you would think based on his record of 5-10. He is coming off his shortest start of the season at San Francisco and things won’t be much better in L.A. though he will not have the excuse of being exhausted I suppose.

He has shown drastic road/home splits this season but at least Dodgers stadium is known as a pitcher’s park.
Dodgers
The Dodgers are in a dogfight with San Francisco but they have been quiet on the trade front so far.
Rumours abound about Yasiel Puig but I still have difficulty believing they would pull the trigger on a move like that, it’s not that long ago he was the future of the franchise.
The Dodgers are a funny team. With the money they are spending they should be loaded but they are top heavy in the rotation and the lineup only really has one elite bat.
Rookie Joc Pederson has really come back to earth as the season progresses.
Its not really fair that the Dodgers have Zack Greinke and Clayton Kershaw. Greinke saw his scoreless streak stopped by the Mets ver the weekend but Kershaw has three straight starts without a run allowed all with 11 or more strikeouts.
When he is on he is practically unhittable and Oakland has already thrown in the towel this season.

The game is at home to boot so you can see why the odds are so heavy toward L.A.
