After starting an abysmal 5-23, the Pistons have found their groove winning 11 of their last 13 to get them back into the playoff race.

Meanwhile, the Atlanta Hawks just keep on rolling. Winners of 12 in a row, Atlanta now sits atop the Eastern Conference.
Detroit
After winning just 5 of their first 28 games, the Pistons looked as if they would be competing for one of the top picks in next year’s draft. That however, is now far from the case. The Detroit Pistons look to continue to their impressive streak of basketball as they attempt to jump into the playoff standings. Currently, the Pistons sit just 1 game behind struggling Brooklyn for the 8th seed.
While many things have led to the success the Pistons are having, Brandon Jennings turning over the calendar to a new year may be the most impressive. Jennings is scoring 22.5 points a game over the 10 games he’s played in 2015.

Jennings remained silent in the Pistons latest victory over Philadelphia, but he scored 37 points and dished out 3 assists in the team’s win over the Pacers back on Friday. Expect Jennings to have a big game Monday as he looks to avenge his mere 10 point performance.
Earlier this month Detroit parted ways and dealt Josh Smith to the Rockets. That move looks to be one of the most impressive moves thus far. While they didn’t get much in return, Kyle Singler was inserted into the starting lineup.
Singler is averaging just 7.3 points on the season, but that stat is very misleading to just how important he’s been lately. Singler and company have hit 28 3’s over the last two Pistons wins and have become one of the most lethal three point teams in the NBA.
Atlanta
Can anybody stop the Hawks? They certainly don’t think so as they’ve ran off 12 straight wins and have won 26 of 28. Their hot streak has catapulted them into a 5 game lead in the NBA Southeast standings. Even more impressive, that 5 game is lead over Washington is also where they stand in the whole Eastern Conference.
If anybody was questioning Atlanta, they’ve silenced the doubters following their back-to-back road victories.
First in Toronto on Friday, the Hawks knocked off the Raptors by 21. Scoring 110 points, they were lead by C Al Horford who scored a team high 22 points.
Things got even more impressive the following night in Chicago when they beat Derrick Rose and the Chicago Bulls 107-99. Kyle Korver led the way with 24 points. Jeff Teague also dished out 11 assists.
Korver continues to shoot lights out from behind the arc as he holds a 50+ percentage from three point range and made 7 in the win over Chicago.

The Hawks will look to push their home win total to 17 on Monday.

This is a rematch people actually want to see.
Green Bay
Last week against Dallas the Packers owned the second half and got the victory to set up a rematch with their nemesis Seattle. The Packers have enjoyed a very fine season but they are definitely a stronger team at home than on the road this year.

At home the offense is unstoppable and mistake free but on the road they are not quite as potent. It will be relatively fresh that they lost to Seattle in the opener and I think we will see a performance that tops that one win or lose.
The key to this one will be QB Aaron Rodgers. In the opening loss he had his worst game of the season but assuming he is right physically I think he will be much better. Against the Cowboys they didn’t put much pressure on him but Seattle will force him to prove that he is up to the task physically.

Green Bay has a gifted receiving corps but the Seahawks have the best secondary in the NFL. It should be a nice battle.
Seattle
The final margin for the Seahawks might have been a cover as a big favourite but that game was actually pretty close and in doubt until an interception return for a TD. I am not saying the Seahawks were lucky to escape, just that it was closer than it might have looked on the ticker. Seattle is looking primed get back to the Super Bowl. They are playing well and will be taking on a team they have already beaten once at home this season. They are definitely peaking at the right time it seems.
Against the Panthers Russell Wilson continued his brilliance in big games. You may not know from game to game whether it will be his feet, his arms or his brain that will beat you but he has emerged as one of the most consistent and savvy QBs in the game.

I expect that he will once again be the x factor as the Packers are likely to gang up on the run and dare a mediocre group of receivers to be difference makers. Many have lost playing that game.

Philadelphia has improved since their abysmal beginning to the season and is no longer the NBA’s worst team. The Pelicans will be looking to build off their solid road performance last time out in Detroit.

New Orleans
Things haven’t been easy for Anthony Davis and the Pelicans. They’ve lacked consistency throughout the entire season as they continue to try and climb above the .500 mark and get back into the Western Conference Playoff race. If they have any hopes of competing for a spot, games against lower tier teams are ones they’ll certainly have to win. Grabbing a win against a team that is 2-16 in their own building is an absolute must.
The Pelicans tried to boost their roster with the acquisition of Quincy Pondexter. The SG was acquired from in a trade with the Memphis Grizzlies earlier in the week. Pondexter scored scored 9 points and grabbed 6 rebounds in his Pelicans debut. He’ll need to have similar performances like the one on Monday if he hopes to continue to see playing time.

The Pelicans currently sit 2.5 games out of the 8th seed in the West. While their lineup has shown it can score, the defense has lacked on many occasions. Averaging 101.5 points a game (15th), the Pelicans are allowing 100.8 (20th). They’ll need to improve on that points allowed number if they want to start piling up the wins.
On the road this season, New Orleans is just 7-14. Things get worse against the Eastern Conference on the road, as they are just 1-7 vs. them.
Philadelphia
The 76ers obviously know they aren’t going anywhere this season. Even with an 0-17 start, they’re now showing signs of a bright future with their young stars. Philadelphia was playing some of their best basketball of the season as they had won 3 of 4, but losses to Atlanta and Toronto have suffered the youngest team in the NBA a minor setback.
Every game it seems like the 76ers will get a contribution from one player, but fail to have anybody else step up. That was the case last time out against Toronto, as Michael Carter-Williams scored 29 points, but couldn’t get any support as they fell by 16 in the end. The 76ers scored just 84 points, which is fitting as they are averaging only 90.3 a game (30th).

Philadelphia may be one of the worst teams at home in terms of straight up record with just a 2-16 record, but backers haven’t been too bad as the 76ers have gone 10-8 ATS in those 18 games.
