New York Yankees (10-7) vs Tampa Rays (8-10)
I am not really sure how they are doing it but the New York Yankees are hanging in there despite missing several key members of their everyday lineup.

The 2013 MLB season is around the corner and the Tampa Bay Rays find themselves in a very familiar spot – with an average payroll but brimming with young talent. Every year we wait for a drop-off from this team but a combination of a terrific front office, stellar managing and a good young nucleus has the Rays on the radar once again.
While the Rangers are coming off a loss they are still 7-3 in their last 10 games and have the biggest AL division lead, as they are 5.5 games up on the Oakland A’s in the AL West. The Rays are also 7-2 in their last games, but they have lost 2 straight.
Both the Rangers and Yankees have big cushions in their respective divisions and this match up may be a preview of a playoff series. The Yankees have a 5 game lead over the Rays in the AL East and the Rangers have a 6.5 game lead over the A’s.
The Angels are 4 games back of the Texas Rangers in the AL West and they currently lead the Wild Card standings and they improved their playoff chances by trading for starting pitcher Zack Greinke.
The Rays were in a bad way but may be turning the corner with a series win against the Yankees.
The Yankees shut out the Rays in yesterday’s game and now they only trail Tampa Bay by 1/2 game in the AL East. The Yankees are 7-3 in their last 10 games while the Rays are only 4-6 in their last 10 games.
The Baltimore Orioles started the season red hot, but they are coming back to the pack in a hurry. Tampa Bay’s win over the Orioles last night took Baltimore out of the top spot in the American League East.
After a terrible start the Red Sox have gotten back on track and they are not at .500 and have won 7 of their last 10 games.
The Rays and Yankees finish off a three-game series with their top pitchers on the mound in this one. David Price is the Ace of the Rays staff, while C.C. Sabathia is the main man for the Yankees.
The Yankees opened this three-game series against American League East rival Tampa Bay with a 5-3 win last night.
No team has been more of a disappointment so far this season than the Los Angeles Angels. They poured tons of money into Albert Pujols and C.J. Wilson and the team has started out 6-11 through 17 games. Tampa Bay is 5-1 at home so far in 2012.
As this is being written Tampa is looking to even their series against Toronto and leading 6-2.
The Tampa Bay Rays may not be the flashiest of teams and they may not have made ground breaking free agency moves in the offseason but they are somehow still a force to be reckoned with in the AL East.
