Little going on in this matchup other than wondering whether Chargers coach can survive the season. Last week’s win provide a stay of execution but a loss to the visiting Panthers might be too hard to ignore.
A couple of real Super Bowl contenders square off in this late season inter-conference showdown. The Pats are red hot and San Fran will look to slow them down with one of the league’s best defenses.
Hugely important tilt in the NFC North. The Bears need it more than the Packers do in case anyone was questioning motivations. Hoping for some “nice” weather to spice things up that much more.
A playoff rematch from last year and possibly a playoff preview. The Falcons are looking to get even with the Giants for embarrassing them and eliminating them from the playoffs a year ago.
The Chargers are doing their usual disappointment dance while Pittsburgh has been hanging in there without Big Ben. He is supposed to return and with him comes very strong playoff hopes.
Is anyone going to score in this one. This game features two of the worst offensive teams in the league, one with nothing to play for, the other with little to play for. Exciting Stuff.

New York Jets
The Jets win last week, 7-6 against Arizona, had to be one of the ugliest games you will see all season long. The good news for New York fans is that the Jets have won two of their last three, the bad news is that they are embroiled in an expected QB controversy.
I believe Mark Sanchez is still technically the starter but for how much longer…The sad thing is that he still probably gives this team the best chance to win. It might be interesting to see them give local hero Tim Tebow the start this week though.

Odds are he would have some success as there is no way Jacksonville would have a lot installed for his type play.
The Jets defense should be able to handle whatever Jacksonville throws at them…At 6-6 ATS the Jets are a miserable team to try and predict and there is no pattern in their behaviour really when it comes to home, road, favourite or underdog.
This team is just plain mediocre though that should be good enough this weekend.
Jacksonville
The Jags couldn’t keep up their winning ways last week losing without putting up much of a fight against Buffalo on the road. [soliloquy id=”82219″]
This roster is light on talent and has been made even thinner thanks to numerous injuries.
Even though they are playing New York it is surprising they are getting as much respect as they are – just a 3 point dog…T
he Jags have shown a little bit of life with QB Chad Henne at the helm and the coaching staff is already saying he could be the starter next season depending on how things turn out. Top rusher Maurice Jones Drew might have been able to find some room now that the passing game is more competent but he is still sidelined and might not play again this season…
When they are large dogs the Jags have risen to the occasion but in scenarios like these they have been just as likely to roll over as not.
Even at home you have to be careful picking a team like Jacksonville because they just don’t put many points on the board.
At -3, no way but it if creep higher, against the Jets…

Even though these teams are in the same state they haven’t met since 2008. Baltimore is the vastly more experienced team but Washington is hotter coming into this one.
The top and bottom of the NFC South square off in Carolina. Could be a letdown situation for the Falcons who got the Saints monkey off their back in Prime Time last Thursday night.
The Eagles season has been over for a while, the only thing left to be seen is how far they will actually fall. That should mean an easy victory for Tampa who is unexpectedly in the middle of a playoff push.
Texans vs. Titans has a nice ring to it but it shouldn’t be much of a game this year. Houston appears to be the league’s most complete team and has been cooking on the road so far – a perfect 5-0.

Houston
They are both good and lucky as they have won their last two games in overtime in what is becoming a very special season. They are looking to beat up on the franchise that moved so they could come into existence…again.
Running back Arian Foster has gotten better as the season has progressed. With 90 or more yards in each of the last 5 games he has topped 1000 already for the third season in a row. He gives them great balance which makes QB Matt Schaub’s job even easier.
They both benefit from the fact that more often than not the defense sets them up well and enables them to follow the game plan. They don’t really do anything special other than beat you.
Houston is 7-4 ATS so riding them has been a pretty good proposition all year long. Despite winning all their road games they are just 3-2 ATS as the visitor. It might have something to do with them always being the favourite. In fact, they have only been the underdog once this season. Looking at their schedule that is likely to happen only one more time on a visit to New England.
Tennessee
Tennessee decided to shake things up by firing their offensive coordinator. [soliloquy id=”82219″]
Even if the offense improves they are unlikely to change their fate which is another season out of the playoffs. The Titans dug themselves a hole by losing 4 of their first five games and have been treading water ever since. A little pride against a division opponent might come out this week but I don’t see any upset potential.
The Titans might have hit a new low by losing to Jacksonville last week – despite outgaining the Jags. When I was looking at the numbers I was surprised to see that just only one team has given up more points than Tennessee. They don’t know what they are doing at quarterback but with Chris Johnson toting the rock they still have big play potential. He was awful early in the year but last week was the first time in more than a month he didn’t crack 90 yards.
Other than being at home and perhaps catching the Titans off guard with some new wrinkles to their attack there is not much to like about the Titans this weekend. Last year they lost to Houston 41-7 at home and that was a better Titans team. They lost to Houston 38-14 early in the season and this one could be the same or worse.

The Vikings have been squandering their hot start with their recent poor play….but they still have a nice opportunity to steal a playoff spot, especially if they can emerge from Green Bay victorious this weekend.
Tennessee absolutely whipped Miami two weeks ago before their bye week. Not that they needed it, but they have had two weeks to prepare for the League’s weakest team.
Green Bay has shaken off some early season jitters to begin reminding us why they are among the NFL elite. They have won 4 games in a row, all by nine or more points, and are looking for some revenge in this contest as they visit the New York Giants.
The Bills broke a three game losing streak last week against Miami. The win was hardly an impressive feat but the Bills will take what they can get.
The Vikings are not setting the world on fire but they are still in the hunt for a playoff spot as they head down the stretch. They are coming off their bye week and with the extra prep and Chicago missing their starting QB they may be catching the Bears at the perfect time.
The story coming into the Redskins game last Sunday against the Eagles was the demise of Philadelphia and QB Michael Vick. They were being forced to start a rookie QB but as Washington fans know that isn’t always such a bad idea.
