The Portland Trail Blazers successfully avoided a sweep with a win against the San Antonio Spurs in Game 4, but life isn’t getting any easier for the team from the Northwest as it heads back on the road down three games to one.
Any questions fans had about the San Antonio Spurs were answered in Game 1 of the Western Conference Semifinals. Despite struggling to take down the Dallas Mavericks in seven games, the team came out and showed why it’s the defending conference champions against the Portland Trail Blazers.
It took seven games, but the San Antonio Spurs made it past the Dallas Mavericks in Round 1 of the 2014 NBA playoffs, and now they have a date with the Portland Trail Blazers – the team who knocked off the Houston Rockets in six games.
The Houston Rockets haven’t made it easy on the Portland Trail Blazers, but you wouldn’t know it by the series total through four games. At this point, Portland has a 3-1 series lead, but two of those wins have come in overtime.
The Miami Heat will try to avoid the season sweep when they host the Brooklyn Nets on Tuesday night.
There remains to this day a sizeable contingent of Heat-haters.
They mostly exist among fans who yearn for the return of Michael Jordan, or Bird-Magic, and even a diminishing few who would prefer the Chamberlain/West Lakers or even the dominant Celtics of the 1960s.
The All Star game is approaching and that means half the season is almost over. While Miami has the best odds to win the NBA Championship many other teams are in the mix and have legit odds.
The NBA Finals ended two days ago, so we should let the 2011-12 odds be for a bit, right? Wrong. The futures for next year’s NBA championship are already posted.
