NBA news: Warriors president Rowell resigns
Robert Rowell has resigned as president of the Golden State Warriors. According to owner Joe Lacob, Rowell wants to explore other business opportunities.
But you have to wonder if the sudden departure has something to do with Jerry West’s expanding role in the organization. 
Rowell was president of the Warriors for eight years and has been with the team for 16 seasons, making the playoffs just once. He deserves a medal for lasting this long.
Hawks shopping Josh Smith
Josh Smith averaged 16.5 points and 8.5 rebounds for the Atlanta Hawks this past season but, in his eyes, was still used as a scapegoat for the team’s failures. He reportedly wants out. He hasn’t formally requested a trade but would prefer to play for Boston, New Jersey, Houston or Orlando.

Raptors officially announce Casey as coach
It was a mere formality at this point, as the news was already out, but the Toronto Raptors formally introduced Dwane Casey as their new head coach on Tuesday. He was an assistant with the championship Dallas Mavericks team and previously went 43-59 over parts of two seasons as Minnesota’s head coach.
