NBA news: LeBron James injures ankle

LeBron James Injures Ankle

Insult and injury were the theme of the night for the Miami Heat on Wednesday. They lost 111-105 to the Los Angeles Clippers, halting a 21-1 run over their previous 22 games, and LeBron James got hurt. He injured his ankle while driving to the basket in the fourth quarter. X-Rays were negative, so the injury isn’t serious, but he’s questionable for tonight’s game against Denver.

Still – karma’s a bitch, ain’t it LeBron?

NFL news: Damien Woody out for season; Brett Favre’s sister arrested in meth raid

The New York Jets will be shorthanded when they visit New England for their AFC Divisional Playoff matchup this Sunday. Starting right tackle Damien Woody is out for the season. Woody battled through a knee injury to play against the Colts last week but hurt his Achilles’ tendon late in the fourth quarter. The Jets have placed him on injured reserve.

Brett Favre was probably hoping 2011 would be a fresh start after his nightmarish 2010. But things haven’t gotten better yet. His sister, Brandi, was arrested during a meth raid yesterday in southern Mississippi.

NHL news: League fines Maple Leafs for giving cash bonuses to players

Leave it to the NHL to take the fun out of Ron Wilson’s 600th career win. With the Toronto Maple Leafs’ victory over San Jose on Tuesday night, Wilson hit No. 600, becoming the seventh coach in league history to do so.

To celebrate, Wilson rewarded players with a $600 cash bonus. Paying players anything outside their actual contracts violates the salary cap system and is therefore illegal. The NHL says it will fine the Leafs “an appropriate amount,” whatever that means.

PGA news: Dustin Johnson withdraws from Sony Open; dating Natalie Gulbis?
