Free Picks: 2015 WGC PGA Cadillac Championship Betting Preview

This Week’s PGA Tour Predictions!

The PGA pros take a short trip to Doral this week to play the Cadillac Championship on the redesigned Trump National Doral’s Blue Monster – the toughest non-major track on TOUR since 2013. Fairways are tough to hit, proximity stats were among the worst of any PGA event last year and putting was almost unfair on the 7,528 yard pat 72 track.

PGA Cadillac Championship Favorites:

Four par 5s await a stellar field of pros as well as four par 3s and 10 par 4s. Length off the tee is crucial this week as will a terrific all around game. Any weakness will be exposed this week for sure.

So who should we be keeping an eye on? Let’s take a look.

Rory McIlroy 5/1

It is almost unfathomable that Rory missed the cut last week – you gotta think that he will be motivated this week for a strong bounce back.

[dfads params=’groups=63742&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

He has a win and runner-up finishes in Europe this year and has three top 10’s in six tries here. Rory is the favorite for a reason- he is the best on the planet in any conditions, on any track.

Bubba Watson 14/1

Course history and present form out Watson firmly on the radar. He has two second place finishes at Doral in his last three trips and has three top 15s to start 2015, including a T2 at the WM Phoenix Open. On a long track there seems to be nobody better right now. He is 1B if Rory is 1A.

PGA Cadillac Championship Contenders:

Dustin Johnson 18/1

Is another player that missed the cut last week in the tough conditions at PGA National. Before that result he had a fourth and a second place finish though. Dustin’s game suits Doral very well as evidenced by a 4th, 12th, 35th and 2nd in his last four appearances on this track.

Jason Day 18/1

Has three top 5s including a win already this season. The #4 player in the world may have caught the World #1 at precisely the right time – Day absolutely should be in the mix this week.

Adam Scott 20/1

Will make his 2015 debut this week but the last time he was seen he registered three straight top 5s. He was a disappointing T25 last year but – HE IS ADAM SCOTT! Rust could be a factor this week – he may need a tournament or two to get back into top form.

Patrick Reed 22/1

The defending champion here was in the mix last week but finished T7.

[dfads params=’groups=63738&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

He has been money on Florida tracks and like him or not is one of the more reliable guys on TOUR right now – four wins on TOUR already. Reed has been playing at a very high level and returns to the scene of his biggest win to date.

PGA Cadillac Championship Sleepers (50/1 or higher):

Ian Poulter 50/1

Poulter could have won last week – he had a three shot lead entering the final round! Still he may be the best value on the board at 50/1. There is no way that he collapses like he did last week. His putter is getting going and his work around the greens will truly come in handy this week.

Bill Haas 50/1

Won at Riviera six weeks ago and has the all around game to contend here. He has two 6th place finishes in five tries on this track including last year. Haas has quietly has had a good year and could be a factor again this week.

Joost Luiten 80/1

Sneaky super-sleeper – Dutch golfer Joost Luiten finished T11 last week after a terrific weekend. He was T13 here last year and enters with a ton of confidence right now.

PGA Cadillac Championship Pick:

It almost pains me to pick this guy but I can’t ignore his win here last year and his current form. Patrick Reed at 22/1 is the pick. He will be motivated to avenge a collapse last week on a track that perfectly suits his game.

The Sleeper this week is Ian Poulter at 50/1. He, like Mr. Reed should be motivated for a big week.
