Game 4 Free Stanley Cup Predictions: Vancouver Canucks vs Boston Bruins

Surprised with the outcome of Game 3? The score was certainly a shock but the outcome really shouldn’t be. Vancouver has just eight wins in 55 trips to Boston – eight! Boston is now 8-1 in their last nine home games overall and Tim Thomas has given up one goal in his last 99 shots faced at TD Garden.

We saw a different Bruins team on Monday night and if the same Boston team shows up on Wednesday night, this series is headed back to Vancouver tied.

This series has certainly found an element of hate – “The Bite” and “The Hit” have given this series a life that no one could have predicted. Vancouver appears to be the team that has suffered from both incidents – Boston has taken both episodes and has gathered motivation as evidenced in their incredible 8-1 beat down of the Canucks in Game 3. Boston became the more physical team, the better special teams club (two power play goals and two shorthanded goals) and by far the more dangerous team even without arguably their best offensive threat Nathan Horton.

For the Canucks, the chore is simple – throw out the tape from Game 3 and start fresh in Game 4 – History means absolutely nothing at this point of the season. They have to execute better, skate harder and limit the mistakes that were rampant in Game 3. The Canucks have done it all season long and should be able to do it again.

Offensively Vancouver did manage to generate 41 shots in Game 3. However, the team was a miserable zero for eight on the power play and has just one goal on 16 man advantage chances so far in the series. Playoff scoring leader Henrik Sedin has not only failed to register a point in the playoffs but he doesn`t even have a shot in any of the three games! Vancouver is better than they showed on Monday night.

How well did things go for the Boston Bruins in Game 3? Seven players had multi-point games, the power play scored twice and the penalty killers tallied twice on the incredible eight shots that they had while shorthanded.

Shawn Thornton, despite playing only eight or so minutes was a true difference maker – he was physical, he stirred up a few emotions and he was visible each and every time that he was on the ice. Mark Recchi and Michael Ryder are also heating up for a Boston team and it is a good thing. Boston will be without Nathan Horton for the remainder of the playoffs. [ad-4437448]

Tim Thomas is The Man – virtually unstoppable at this point in time. The complexion of Game 3 would have been much different if Thomas hadn`t made a number of incredible saves and a solid body check. The dude knows how to play goal – that`s for sure.

NHL Betting Trends:

VAN are 12-2 in their last 14 Wed. games.
Over is 6-1-2 in VAN last 9 road games.
VAN are 28-11 in their last 39 road games.
Under is 18-5-4 in BOS last 27 vs. Northwest.
BOS are 20-6 in their last 26 Wed. games.
Over is 6-2 in BOS last 8 home games.
Under is 5-2-2 in the last 9 meetings in Boston.

Betting Prediction: Boston`s identity returned in Game 3 – smash mouth, hardnosed and opportunistic. It is difficult to imagine the Bruins not carrying some sort of momentum into Wednesday night`s game. Vancouver has already been blown out in this year`s playoffs – they followed up a 7-1 loss in Game 4 of the Chicago series with two consecutive losses. However, Vancouver, to a man learned a ton from that series. Expect a more disciplined, more professional Canucks team to shrug off the loss of Aaron Rome and to be a whole lot more competitive.

Truth be told, Vancouver was the better team for more than half of Game 3! Rest assured that Jeff Tambellini won`t be on Vancouver`s power play Wednesday night – the Big Boys will be much better. Roberto Luongo will bounce back as well.

Pick: Vancouver Canucks +105
