Blackhawks Look For Huge Bounce Back – Visit Los Angeles in Game 3

I guess you could say that the Chicago Blackhawks were due for a bad game – but six unanswered goals against in the final 22 minutes of Game 2 – come on! Los Angeles has a ton of momentum going into Game 3 – to say the least while the Hawks should be an angry club after not showing up when it counted in Game 2.

ATS Matchup Insight | CappersPicks Insider Preview

Two battle tested teams clash on Saturday night for control of the Western Final.

There isn’t much of a secret as to why the Hawks aren’t exactly what we expect at this time of year – Patrick Kane has just one goal in the last seven games while Sharp has only two goals in 14 playoff games.

It’s pretty hard to think that these guys will remain down for long.

The Blackhawks are expected to get sparkplug Andrew Shaw who could provide a kick and could solidify the top two lines. Chicago’s top six have to be better than they have been and hopes are that Shaw’s presence be just what the doctor ordered.

Corey Crawford was awful in Game 2 but he seems to be saying the right things ahead of Game 3. Before the Game 2 debacle Crawford stopped 25 of 26 shots in Game 1, many of the highlight variety and had a 9-4 record with a terrific 1.90 GAA and .933 save percentage in the playoffs. Expect Crawford to bounce back Saturday and make it difficult on the Kings.

Jeff Carter – had a pretty good game last time out, not bad at all – a hat trick in the third period to go along with an assist. Tanner Pearson, Tyler Toffoli and Carter’s line produced four goals and seven points in Game 2 – incredible. The key for LA will be to get the Anze Kopitar line going – if they can be a factor the Kings should be in decent shape.

Jonathan Quick continues to be Jonathan Quick – rock solid. Since giving up 17 goals in the first three games against the Sharks, this guy has been stellar. For my money Quick is the best in the game.

A few trends to consider:
• Over is 10-3 in CHI last 13 Sat. games.
• CHI are 9-3 in their last 12 overall.
• CHI are 8-20 in their last 28 road games.
• Under is 13-4-4 in LA last 21 Sat. games.
• LA are 18-6 in their last 24 games following a win.
• LA are 9-4 in their last 13 overall.
• CHI are 7-2 in the last 9 meetings in Los Angeles.
• CHI are 20-7 in the last 27 meetings.

The Kings are just 3-3 at Staples Center in the postseason – surprising. Chicago is 7-2 in the last 9 meetings in Los Angeles – interesting. My gut is telling me that the Hawks use Game 2 as motivation – they are whole lot better than the team that got shellacked in Game 2.

Chicago is too seasoned, too professional and too proud not to come out with their best in Game 3. Andrew Shaw will make a difference.

Pick: Chicago Blackhawks +113
