The Chiefs and the Broncos have separated themselves as the two best teams in the AFC – we will get a sense of who the top dog is Sunday!

Not a lot of people are giving the Chiefs much of a chance this weekend despite the perfect record – even Vegas figures Denver will run away with this game.

A lot has been made about the quality of teams that KC has played en route to their perfect start – the Chiefs have had the easiest schedule in the NFL after going just 2-14 last year – no team they have played so far has a .500 record. KC has faced five backup QBs, has scored 30 points just once this season and six of their nine wins have come by 10 points or less.

That said the Chiefs enter this week with one of the top defensive units in the game to go against a hobbled Peyton Manning. KC is first in points allowed per game, 10th in total yards and sixth in passing yards. They are just 24th in rushing yards allowed per contest which could mean a healthy dose of Knowshon Moreno.

The Chiefs pass rush is like no other that the Broncos have seen yet this year – Justin Houston has 11 sacks and Tamba Hali has nine on the year, contributing to the team’s league-lead in sacks with 36. With Peyton at less than 100%, these two could be a huge factor in the game.

It all boils down to a question of whether or not the Chiefs will be able to score enough to keep up with the Broncos in this one.

Alex Smith has been good, not great passing for 1,919 yards and nine touchdowns — he is a game manager, not a game changer. Jamaal Charles has been a terrific dual- leading the team in catches with 47 for 389 yards and two touchdowns. Charles has also rushed for 725 yards and six touchdowns this season. Donnie Avery is the receiving leader with 396 yards and a score and Dwayne Bowe is underachieving and in trouble… again!

Now for the Broncos – they have been an absolute juggernaut offensively this year and will be a great test for KC’s vaunted defense.

The Broncos average 41.2 points per game – 12 points more than second on the list New Orleans, Peyton has 33 touchdowns compared to his six picks in nine games and there is a semblance of a running game in Denver.

The Broncos are as scary an offense as there is in the NFL right now – Demaryius Thomas has caught 55 passes for 793 yards and nine touchdowns while Eric Decker has caught 49 passes for 721 yards and three scores, Wes Welker has 576 yards and nine touchdowns and tight end Julius Thomas has 547 yards and nine touchdowns – unbelievable! Compare those numbers to the leaders on the Chiefs!

Knowshon Moreno has benefited from the solid passing game, rushing for 521 yards and eight touchdowns to add to the danger factor of this team.

Denver’s weakness? Defense! The Broncos rank 25th in points allowed, 23rd in total yards allowed and 30th in passing yards allowed – not great! However, the Broncos excel in run-stopping, ranking fourth in the NFL in rushing yards allowed per game. The matchup between Jamaal Charles and the Denver D will be the biggest factor in this game!

Sunday Night Football Betting Prediction:

A few trends to consider:

• Under is 6-1-1 in KC last 8 road games.
• Under is 13-3 in KC last 16 games in Week 11.
• Under is 20-6-1 in KC last 27 vs. AFC.
• DEN are 7-2 ATS in their last 9 games in November.
• Over is 17-5-1 in DEN last 23 vs. AFC.
• DEN are 2-6 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.

There aren’t a whole lot of people picking the Chiefs to come into Mile High and beating this Denver team – the Chiefs haven’t faced nearly the caliber of team they are about to on Sunday night. But this game should be a typically close divisional contest. KC’s defensive strength is stopping the pass, Peyton Manning is less than 100% and the pressure that KC can bring should be enough to disrupt Manning into a few mistakes. In the end, the Chiefs don’t have the firepower to beat the Broncos but they certainly have the game to keep it close.

Pick: KC Chiefs to cover the 7 1/2 points
