Hurricanes vs. Blue Devils Gambling Prediction & Week 12 Preview

Miami vs Duke NCAAF Handicapping

Miami’s credibility has taken a huge hit with back to back conference losses. In fact, teh Hurricanes and Blue Devils are actually tied right now in the Coastal Division with 3-2 conference records so whichever teams wins this one will still have a chance to rise to the top of a division that is pretty crowded right now.

A loss will mean that they are likely out of the running.

Can the Blue Devils continue their “sort of” dream season with another victory over a name opponent?  They are at home and catching the Hurricanes at a low point for sure.

Miami

Even as they building it the consensus was that Miami was not nearly as good as their 7-0 record was a few weeks back. Now with a couple of losses and top running back Duke Johnson out of commission, the question is how good are they really.

There is certainly no shame in losing to Florida State and Virginia Tech, two teams with very impressive defenses, but they weren’t really competitive in either of those games. If they lose again this weekend to a much less imposing Duke team it will be an indicator that this program is not nearly as far along as they would like to think.

The burden this week definitely falls on QB Stephen Morris. The Seminoles harassed him big time but he was more than good enough to win last week against VT. Never the most rhythmic passer he is going to have to hit some big plays against Duke.

Last year he was very good against the Blue Devils when they won a barn burner 52-45.

Duke

The Duke Blue Devils started conference play with a couple of losses but are currently on a 5 game winning streak heading into this one, including a surprise victory over Virginia Tech on the road. You could actually make the case that they have the inside track to the division championship, and a date with the Seminoles in the ACC title game, providing FSU takes care of business against Georgia Tech this weekend.

If that happens and they win out I think they would hold the tiebreaker over VT – and voila there they are.

In recent iterations the Blue Devils have had a prolific passing attack (Thad Lewis) but that is not the case this season.

This year they are more balanced and they are playing much better defense than probably ever before, limiting opponents to just 22ppg.

The Blue Devils are playing as good a brand of football as they have in a long while. Beat the Hurricanes and they will really be rocking.
