Betting On The Seattle Seahawks In Super Bowl XXXVIII?

5 Reasons the Seahawks Win Super Bowl XXXVIII

It’s less than a week away from kickoff for the biggest annual sports event in North America – the anticipation is palpable. Super Bowl Media day has come and gone – all there is the game to worry about now.

The weather forecast for the Big Game isn’t great – snow and cold temperatures are expected for the New Jersey area Sunday.

Will the snow enhance or diminish Seattle’s chance of winning the game? I will touch on that later. Here are 5 reasons why Seattle will be hoisting the Lombardi Trophy at about 10:30 ET Sunday.

1. Marshawn Lynch

If Seattle wins Sunday, it is almost a sure thing that Marshawn Lynch will have had a huge afternoon. First off, by running the ball, milking the clock and eating up chunks of yards, it will ensure that Peyton Manning and company are on the sidelines where they can’t do any damage.

If a record-setting offense isn’t allowed to operate, it will be awfully hard for them to score points.

Lynch was Seattle’s best offensive player this year – 1257 yards and 12 TDs and he did have 249 combined n two postseason games this year.

But, and that is a BIG BUT, Denver ranked seventh in the NFL against the run this year and they held a Hot New England rushing attack in check in the Conference Final.

Lynch is Seattle’s best offensive weapon and as per usual is going about his business quietly – preferring to do his talking on the field.

2. Defense

there is an old adage “Defense Wins Championships” and in this case it is true. Seattle was the #1 overall defense this past season – far and away the biggest challenge that Denver will have faced. Seattle led the NFL with 39 takeaways, 28 interceptions and turnover differential (plus-20), and there is Richard Sherman who led the NHL in interceptions with eight.

Sherman, Earl Thomas, Kam Chancellor, Byron Maxwell and Walter Thurmond are an absolute nightmare to play against and will give Peyton Manning, Demaryius Thomas, Wes Welker and Erik Decker fits all afternoon long. Red Bryant, Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril should do a good job against Knowshon Moreno as well.

In four recent Super Bowls where the top defensive team faced the top offensive club, the defense won three times.

3. Weather

here it is! Swirling winds, snow and cold temperatures are forecasted for Sunday and typically the more physical teams fare better in those games. With a better running game and a smash-mouth defense, Seattle gets the slight nod if weather is a factor.

The wind at Met Life can be problematic for QBs – Manning may have some issues getting the ball into the hands of his receivers as well. And Peyton is getting advice from Eli? Ugh!

4. Dual-threat Russell Wilson

Seattle has played it relatively safe with Wilson the last month or so. Absent have been the big runs out of the pocket to keep drives alive. The reins will be off on Sunday – Wilson should be granted immunity from staying in the pocket.

When Wilson is scrambling and keeping defenses off guard, the Seahawks are at their best – almost in-defensible.

5. The 12th Man

Don’t think there won’t be an enormous contingent of Seahawks fans in New Jersey. Somehow, some way, the rabid Seattle fans will be heard from.

The Hawks players know that a win Sunday will be the start of one of the biggest parties the country has ever seen.
