NFL Prop Predictions: Free 2014 Passing Leader Gambling Lines & Pick

2014 NFL Picks / Prop Bets

The current era of the NFL has been very friendly to passers, with new rules making it even more difficult on defenders to slow opposing aerial attacks. As such, passing yardage totals have risen, making for exciting races to the top of the leaderboard as passers pad their stats.

Here are five passes poised to make a run at the passing yardage title this upcoming season.

Passing Title OddsDrew Brees, New Orleans Saints (+350)

Brees has been a model of consistency ever since the NFL changed its rules regarding contact in the secondary. He’s thrown for over 5,100 yards in each of the last three seasons, making him the only player to surpass the 5,000-yard mark multiple times in that span.

With those rules set to get even more strict this season, it could be Brees’s time to shine once again.

Passing Title OddsMatthew Stafford, Detroit Lions (+750)

Stafford’s calling card in recent yards has been volume – and lots of it. No quarterback has attempted more passes over the last three seasons than the Georgia product. He loses Scott Linehan as his play caller, which will mean a dip in that department, but what he loses in volume, he should gain in quality.

Jim Caldwell and Joe Lombardi replace the previous regime, while weapons like Golden Tate and Eric Ebron supplement a group that led the league in drops a year ago.

Passing Title OddsJay Cutler, Chicago Bears (+2500)

Marc Trestman’s done great things for quarterbacks that have played under him. Josh McCown is off starting in Tampa Bay after a year of Trestman’s tutelage. Now, Cutler is poised for a big season if he can stay on the field for a full 16 games.

He has the league’s best 1-2 wide receiver tandem at his disposal, along with top Passing options at running back and tight end.

Passing Title OddsTony Romo, Dallas Cowboys (+2500)

Romo’s back is worth keeping an eye on, but he’s looked just fine through the preseason. With Scott Linehan coming in as passing game coordinator and play-caller, Romo is about to get a lot busier.

He’ll have plenty of quality weapons at his disposal, and will play in a friendly environment in a dome. With the current state of the Cowboy defense what it is, Dallas will be in a lot of shootouts, and that’s going to mean Romo will be slinging the ball around the yard a whole lot.

Passing Title OddsRobert Griffin III, Washington Redskins (+7500)

The Redskins added some quality weapons for Griffin during the offseason, including wideouts DeSean Jackson and Andre Roberts.

The bigger boost comes on the sideline. The Shanahans are gone and so are the limitations of their college-style offense, while Jay Gruden comes to town a year after rejuvenating Andy Dalton’s career.

With the Redskins defense in shambles once again this season, the offense will need to score a lot of points and that’s going to fall on Griffin’s shoulders. He’s had special seasons before, and this offense certainly has the tools to be special.

CappersPicks.com has NFL odds up on a ton of futures, and you will also find NFL lines up for early games as well.
