This is one of those who cares games so don’t spend too much time trying to figure it out – even the coaches probably aren’t sure what they are going to get. Both of these teams are out of the playoffs at this point and both are trying to see what they really have in their rookie signal callers.

It would seem that should mean that Tampa could throw another game in the win column but neither of these clubs can take anything for granted.

Buffalo

The Bills just can’t seem to get over the hump. Last week they lost again up in Toronto which has the players complaining, though none seem to complain about the extra money this pumps into the franchise that trickles down into their salaries.

The Bills lost to Atlanta because they lack an ability to make the winning plays when they need to be made. This is a bit of a gut check game for them because they have a chance to get out of the cold and face an opponent at their level.

If they can’t use their running game and some of their stars on defense to get a victory then this team is even further behind in their development than I would have thought this season. This game is kind of like a State of the Union in Buffalo. Maybe even Bon Jovi is watching.

Tampa Bay

The Bucs won three in a row after a disastrous start to the season but I don’t think we should read too much into that…and the same can be said about the beating they took at Carolina last week – nobody is beating those guys lately.

This is a team with a few nice pieces and now that they got QB Josh Freeman out of there maybe they can continue their building efforts. Even though I am not sold they seem to like what they see from their rookie QB Mike Glennon and when paired with the right weapons he might be a viable option. The problem is those weapons are not healthy right now with RB Doug Martin on the IR and top receiver Vincent Jackson questionable for Sunday. This team was already struggling to put points on the board – 3rd worst – and their defense is not good enough to dominate.

This week they may not have to. Their reasonably strong rush defense should play well in their matchup with the Bills. If you are not sure what you are going to get than going with the underdog is generally the smart way to go.

Spread Pick: Buffalo Bills +2.5
O/U Pick: Over
