The Eagles, who hold a similar fate look to bounce back from a 48-30 humbling at the hands of the Adrian Peterson-less Minnesota Vikings last week could clinch the NFC East this week with a win and a Dallas loss at Washington. Motivation shouldn`t be an issue for either club this week in what has all the makings of the Game of the Week.

The Chicago Bears are on a roll – Jay Cutler is back and it appears as though he didn`t miss a beat. The offense is suddenly the main reason the Bears are winning – they are 2nd in the league behind only Denver in points per game (29) but they are fifth-worst in the NFL in points against – 28 per game. It`s quite a contrast from years past!

How good have the Bears been offensively? They enter Sunday night’s showdown ranked fifth in offensive points per game (25.6), seventh in yards per game (393.4), second in yards per play (6.1), fifth in passing yards per game (275.8), third in touchdown passes (29), 13th in rushing yards per game (117.6) and fourth in yards per rush (4.6).

Jay Cutler has been good this year and looked OK in his return from an ankle injury. There are no excuses for failure. Cutler has Brandon Marshall at 6-foot-4, 230 pounds who has 90 catches for 1,185 yards and 10 touchdowns and Alshon Jeffery the 6-foot-3, 216-pound second option and his 80 catches for 1,265 yards (seventh in the NFL) and seven touchdowns at his disposal. The two are an absolute matchup nightmare – the best tandem in the league this year.

If you try to shut down the passing game, Chicago has one of the best dual-threat back in the NFL to lean on. Matt Forte has 1,200 rushing yards (third in the NFL) and 522 receiving yards (fourth among running backs).

The Bears have the worst run defense in the NFL – shocking, allowing 152.4 yards per game on the ground on average – Shadey McCoy could have himself quite a game – he and the Eagles running game averages 152.9 rushing yards per game. It`s a good thing for the Bears OK pass defense – Chicago still creates turnovers and the presence of Julius Peppers still looms as one of the best Defensive linemen in the league.

Philadelphia lost a chance to put a nail in the coffin of the Cowboys last week but choked in shocking fashion to the Vikings. Don`t blame the offense though – they continue to click along and gained 475 yards in the loss last week. Nick Foles has been stellar, DeSean Jackson has been terrific, Riley Cooper has been solid and LeSean McCoy continues to look like one of the more dangerous offensive players in the game.

The Eagles can thank their defense for allowing the Cowboys to keep in striking distance. It ranks 30th in the league in total yards allowed at 402.4 per game, 31st in passing yards allowed at 291.6 per game, 23rd in sacks with 32 and 16th in offensive points allowed at 22.1 per game. The Eagles do still rank tied for seventh in takeaways with 26, while Chicago has only turned the ball over 19 times, which ranks among the NFL’s best.

Sunday Night Football Betting Prediction

A few trends to consider:
• CHI are 2-9 ATS in their last 11 vs. NFC.
• Over is 11-3 in CHI last 14 road games.
• Over is 9-3 in CHI last 12 games on grass.
• PHI are 2-9-1 ATS vs. a team with a winning record.
• PHI are 5-20-1 ATS in their last 26 home games.
• Underdog is 8-2 ATS in their last 10 meetings.
• Road team is 7-3 ATS in their last 10 meetings.

Sunday`s game is an interesting battle between two of the worst defenses in the game – points WILL be scored. The biggest factor to me is time of possession – something that the Eagles have struggled with all season long. If Cutler and the second ranked NFL offense have the ball more – they are going to score more. I love what Chip Kelly`s team has done this year but I like the experience of Jay Cutler to outplay relative virtual newcomer Nick Foles in this one. In a high scoring game, I`ll take the Bears to make a big statement.

Pick: Chicago Bears +3
