NFL Week 16 Early Odds
The underdogs raked again in Week 15 as the favorites continued their trend of completely tanking. The NFL betting schedule for Week 16 is one of the final chances the favorites will have to turn things around.
When the early odds for Week 16 first hit the wire the biggest spread was in the Arizona/New England game. To even have a chance at the postseason the Patriots have to run the table the rest of the way, and even then they’ll need some help. New England has won two in a row after toppling Seattle and Oakland the last two weeks, while the Cardinals lost to Minnesota last week, which was their third loss in their last four games. With the Cardinals struggling the Pats are an 8-point favorite on the NFL odds this week.
There are also a pair of games with 7-point spreads on the early Week 16 lines. The Houston Texans are rolling right now after winning their last four games, and five appears to be just a matter of time this week when they take on Oakland as a 7-point favorite on the NFL odds. The Raiders have dropped their last three games and seven of their last eight while going 2-6 ATS. The other 7-point spread is in the New Orleans/Detroit game. You can probably figure out that the winless Lions are not the favorites. The Saints’ faint playoff hopes were dashed last week after they lost to Chicago, while the Lions fell to 0-14 after losing to the Colts.
The smallest spread on the early NFL odds is Pittsburgh at Tennessee. This game between division leaders will likely decide who gets home field in the AFC throughout the playoffs. The Steelers have won their last five games, while Tennessee is coming off an upset loss to Houston in which their offense stalled for the first time with Kerry Collins behind center. Tennessee also saw defensive leader Albert Haynesworth go down last week, and it would be a big blow to their defense if he’s out for very long. The Titans have home-field advantage this weekend and they’re a slim 1-point favorite on the NFL odds.
