Week 12 Thanksgiving NFL Spreads: Raiders vs Cowboys

Point spread, ATS odds, and moneyline betting and preview article for the 2009 Week 12 Thursday Thanksgiving Day football NFL clash between the Oakland Raiders and the Dallas Cowboys..

NFL WEEK 12 – RAIDERS VS. COWBOYS

It’s about time to start protecting the good women and children in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. It’s nearly December, and watching the Dallas Cowboys play in December has forced hundreds of thousands of football fans to avert their eyes.

Time: Thursday 4:15 ET
Venue: Cowboys Stadium, Dallas
MoneyLine: Cowboys -800 (-110) / Raiders +600 (-110)
Spread: Cowboys -11
Over/Under: 47.5

It’s not pretty. Fact is, the Boys are so dysfunctional in that month that they have not had a winning December since 1999.

With that in mind, it’s more than important that the Cowboys hold serve Thursday against the Raiders, who tend to have bad months every month but have enough talent to reach out from the coffin every now and then and grab an opponent by the throat (ask the Eagles and Bengals about that).

Dallas gives 11 in this one, and the line makes sense. But the Raiders have found a way to become halfway competitive (last three games have been close losses to San Diego and Kansas City, and that signature victory over Cincinnati), and now that JaMarcus Russell has been placed in dry dock, presumably for the rest of the season, and Bruce Gradkowski is calling signals, there should be far fewer 3-and-outs.

Gradkowski at least gives the Raiders a puncher’s chance at establishing the vertical passing game that has been the franchise’s goal since the Rutherford Hayes. That in turn should make create more running room for what has become a three-headed running back committee of Justin Fargas, Michael Bush and Darren McFadden.Sports Betting at Sportsbook.com

As for those Boys, sometime along the way they are going to have to figure out a way to get an offense that has some talent on the same page with a defense that has some talent. The two haven’t meshed much against a half-decent opponent since a 37-21 Week 7 victory over Atlanta, and with the Giants, Chargers, Saints and Eagles still left on the docket, it’s about time to start producing or STFU.

Wade Phillips, Tony Romo & Co. got a second lease on life when they scored late in last week’s victory over the Redskins. They might not want to walk so close to the cliff against Oakland.
