Not only is first place in the NFC West on the line but a possible first round bye and potential home field advantage will be at stake when these teams meet on Sunday night.

The Seahawks have re-established themselves as one of, if not the best all around football team in the game while the Cardinals have become the most resilient team most have ever seen.

It should be an interesting affair to say the least with defenses dominating.

Seahawks

The Seattle Seahawks are on some sort of roll – four straight wins against some pretty good clubs has Seattle looking like the most feared team in the NFL right now. The Seahawks defense has now given up a total of 27 points in the last four games combined! The team looks awfully scary on both sides of the ball right now – as physical a team as there is on offense and on defense.

Seattle’s last four wins have all come by double digits – the team has covered in each of those contests. The reason? The game-changing defense that took some time to get on track this year but has been absolutely dominant the last month. This defense allowed Drew Stanton and the Cardinals just 204 yards of offense four weeks ago and held them to three points – now they get to face Ryan Lindley who will start at quarterback and Arizona’s second string running back – some guy that was signed off the practice squad only a couple of weeks ago.

The Seattle offense likely won’t have to do a whole lot in this game. Although Marshawn Lynch gained only 39 yards in the first meeting between the clubs but Russell Wilson was terrific passing for 211 yards and rushing for another 73. Seattle has been effective and efficient in all aspects of the game during the streak – no reason to think differently about a game that they should be extra-motivated to win.

Cardinals

The Arizona Cardinals may be the most unlucky team in the NFL. But despite the loss of Carson Palmer, Drew Stanton and Andre Ellington to injury, Coach Bruce Arians has still found a way to guide this team to victories. They are the first team to clinch a playoff berth and are coming off a hard-fought 12-6 win over a decent St. Louis team last Thursday night.

For the Cardinals to get the win Sunday their stout defense will absolutely have to take their game to a different level – and they are capable of that. The Cardinals held the scorching Rams to six points last week after St. Louis put up 76 points in the two previous weeks. Arizona has been one of the top defensive units in the NFL all season long – they will do their part in their biggest game of the season Sunday.

But all the defense in the world won’t make up for the fact that Ryan Lindley will be behind center.

[dfads params=’groups=63752&limit=1&return_javascript=0′]

He is a third/fourth stringer for a reason! Lindley completed 3 of 10 passes last week for 30 yards and has zero TDs with seven interceptions in six previous NFL starts. The lack of a reliable running game also figures to hurt an Arizona offense that will likely find it difficult to get anything going against Seattle’s defense.

NFL Week 16 Betting Trends

• Under is 8-0 in SEA last 8 games in December.
• Under is 8-1 in SEA last 9 vs. NFC West.
• SEA are 9-3 ATS in their last 12 games on grass.
• ARI are 7-1 ATS in their last 8 games in December.
• ARI are 12-3 ATS in their last 15 vs. NFC.
• ARI are 16-5 ATS in their last 21 games overall.
• Over is 9-1 in the last 10 meetings in Arizona.

The Arizona Cardinals have won eight straight games on home turf but never have they had so much adversity.

4* NFL Week 16 Betting Prediction

While I think they can keep this game close thanks to a solid defense and an amped home crowd, I can’t fathom them derailing arguably the hottest team in the NFL right now.
