The Philadelphia Eagles will look to remain perfect on the season when they travel to Indianapolis to take on a Colts squad that will look to build on a terrific second half in their respectable loss to Denver last week. While Philadelphia looked just OK in their win last week, Indianapolis looked very good in their loss. So who gets the win this week?

Let’s take a look.

Eagles

It took a while for the Philadelphia Eagles to get going last week as they spotted Jacksonville 17 points before waking up and scoring 34 unanswered points. The Eagles were sloppy – the dependable Nick Foles was responsible for two fumbles and an interception all by himself.

Foles did end up with 322 yards passing and two TDs but the air of invincibility disappeared early this NFL season. Foles has to be better on the road as does…

LeSean McCoy gained just 74 yards on 21 carries last week against a Jacksonville front that was viewed as one of the worst in the game. Darren Sproles looked good out of the backfield however and serves as just another weapon for Chip Kelley’s offense. Sproles went for 71 yards and a TD in the win.

Philadelphia’s defense is a cause for concern as they let Chad Henne and a no-name bunch of receivers run roughshod all over them the first half last week.

While Philadelphia’s defense was never going to be a standout, it is clear that they need to tighten up for Sunday – Andrew Luck at home after a tough Week 1 loss is no joke!

Colts

The Indianapolis Colts look as though they played two games last week – they lost the first half and dominated the second.

But in the end, props have to be given to a Colts team that put a scare into a team widely regarded as the best in the game. Indianapolis plays their home opener Sunday with some definite momentum, both on offense and defense.

Andrew Luck continues to ascend up the NFL QB ladder. He went for 370 yards last week and two TDs while rushing for another.

Reggie Wayne returned as one of Luck’s most trusted weapons – 98 yards on 9 catches and names like Hakeem Nicks and TY Hilton were OK but could be better this week.

An area of concern for Indy is the running game – Trent Richardson was brutal once again and could be losing touches to Ahmad Bradshaw who at least showed some sort of explosiveness.

The running backs have to be better and the Colts O-line has to do a better job of protecting their asset Andrew Luck this week. Luck is Indy’s only chance in this game – he deserves some time!

Defensively the Colts did some good things against Denver last week – particularly in the second half.

That said, the defense as a whole has to be a lot better – Chip Kelly’s offense provides a different type of challenge – one that can and will burn you if you are not on top of your game.

Week 2 Betting Trends:

• Over is 6-1-1 in PHI last 8 Mon. games.
• Over is 7-2 in PHI last 9 road games.
• IND are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 Mon. games.
• Over is 7-3 in IND last 10 games on fieldturf.
• Over is 9-4 in IND last 13 games overall

Week 2 Monday Night Football NFL Prediction

This game has potential to be one of the best of the weekend. The Eagles are 5-1 in their last six games on the road and have won their last three against AFC South teams. That said the Colts are on the cusp of being an elite team – it is hard to imagine them losing two games in a row.

The Colts have a lot to be happy about despite their loss in Week 1 – watch them ride the momentum gathered on Sunday night to a seven point win Sunday.
