Texans

Houston (1-0) won its season opener, putting up just enough points to defeat the Redskins, 17-6. But it came with a price, as the team lost star defender Jadeveon Clowney to a knee injury.

Clowney has already undergone surgery and will be out for four to six weeks.

Meanwhile, quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick proved to be the spark the Texans needed to get the job done last weekend, managing to rack up 206 yards and a touchdown.

His favorite target for the day was veteran Andre Johnson who showed up to play, racking up 93 yards on six receptions.

Not to be outdone was running back Arian Foster who rushed for 100 yards, giving Houston a balanced offensive attack.

Johnathan Joseph led the Texans defense with 11 tackles, as the unit allowed 372 yards and only 3-of-12 third down conversions.

Raiders

Rookie quarterback Derek Carr’s regular season NFL debut was impressive, but it alone was not quite good enough to give Oakland its first win of the 2014 season, falling at the New York Jets 19-14.

Carr led the Raiders offense, completing 62.5 percent of his passes for 151 yards and two touchdowns. But the ground game killed them.

Oakland struggled on the ground managing just 1.7 yards per carry, as Darren McFadden was held to just 15 yards on four carries.

The Raiders finished the game with only 148 yards.

Had it not been for the tenacious play of the Raiders defense, the outcome could have been much different.

And while the defense allowed 402 yards, they did force two turnovers and gave up just two touchdowns, while stopping the Jets five times on 12 third down conversion attempts.

Week 2 NFL Football Spread Prediction

Getting a win in Oakland is tough, and it’s even harder when traveling across the country.

I like the Raiders to get the SU win here.
